~Movie Review~
Troy.
STORYLINE:
The storyline is actually mid-way when the movie begins.  The film commences with a little narration and a few pointers in writing at the bottom of the screen to recap the history that is not included in the movie.  This also gives every viewer the background of the conflict and the source and purpose of all of the power-driven Agamemnon and his possession of basically every city in Greece.  For years he has been longing to take over Troy, but has never breached their walls.
Amid Agamemnons army is the greatest warrior the world has ever seen, Achilles.  Viewers do not know myth of Achilles legend before the film begins, unless they are familiar with it previously.  So here is the basic gist, its nothing special.  Achilles was baptised when he was born by his mother, Thetis (Julie Christie) in a lake that was acclaimed as being one that made anyone who bathed in it immortal.  Apparently, this is the lake you see Achilles mother wading in, near the start of the film.  This is most likely from which the concept of Achilles being an immortal god sprang from however, when he was baptised, his mother supposedly dipped him into the lake whilst holding onto his ankle.  Therefore, Achilles ankle never touched the water hence the phrase Achilles heel the only mortal part of his body, allegedly!
I say that the storyline was midway, because there was not much introduction per say.  Paris and Helen have already begun their affair, and it is evident that they are in love.  Helen is blown away when Paris asks Helen to come back with him to Troy.  So this relationship is kinda of jumped right into, but it also helps to create the past that they have had, to get to the point that they are at.

FOCUS:
The focus somewhat alters, but the predominant one throughout the movie initiates when Prince Paris (Orlando Bloom) steals away the Queen of Sparta (Diane Kruger) and hides her on his ship returning home to Troy.  This eventuates a war between Sparta (more so, Greece) and Troy, originally to attain the Queen back to her husband, Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson), but later for the greed and power hunger that Agamemnon (Brian Cox) possesses.  The war is the focus, as is Achilles (Brad Pitt) dream to be remembered through the ages, as a man who was born to take lives.  The Trojan Army is led my Pariss brother, Prince Hector (Eric Bana) and the opposing Greek Army is led by Achilles under the order of his enemy Agamemnon.

BRIEFS:
As soon as the absence of King Menelauss wife is acknowledged, Prince Hector ( Eric Bana) is outraged at his brothers behaviour, although Paris (Orlando Bloom) is steadfast that his feelings are real and are of love.  Therefore, the journey back to Troy continues as planned.
Meanwhile, Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson) reports to his brother, Agamemnon (Brian Cox), and asks him to help get Helen (Diane Kruger) back so he can kill her for betraying him.  Agamemnon greedily agrees, although he has not intention of venturing to Troy to find his brothers wife.  All he has in mind is a great war against Troy to take charge of the land and claim it as his own, and gain control of the Trojan Army.
Achilles ( Brad Pitt) has a pure hatred of his leader, Agamemnon, and at first is reluctant to travel to Troy for what he believes is a pointless war.  Whilst helping his cousin Patrichlus to fight, his friend and companion, Odysseus (Sean Bean), comes and informs him that if he fought in this war, his name would be remembered forever.  This is all Achilles has ever wanted: to be praised as a hero for eternity.  And so, he goes to Troy to fight.
The fighting goes on for days, day in and day out for God knows how long.  Paris eventually realises that this is his battle, and courageously tells his father, Priam (Peter O'Toole), that he will fight Menelaus for the rights of Helen.  However, during the battle, Paris is wounded and cannot continue; cowardly running to his brother, Hector, for aid.  Menelaus is angered and runs ferociously at him, but Hector acts first and Menelaus dies instantly.  This event momentarily creates havoc, as the Greek Army charges for the Trojans, at the orders to the now brotherless Agamemnon.  The Greeks are not outnumbered, but they are ruthlessly halved in size during the fight that ensues. Priam, the King of Troy agrees later to attack the Greeks (who are on their land near the beach) in the middle of night, taking them by surprise ....
