Iron Maiden Book Of Souls Eddie

Ordinarily when I draw something new, I simply add it to my gallery and write a small blurb underneath it, however, for the first time, I am actually really pleased with the way this drawing has turned out, and so have added it to my blog. When I first got started in art I completed a graphite only drawing of Iron Maiden's Eddie in Egyptian head gear, which received a lot of comments and so I thought I would try it again to see if the first one was a one off or if I could even improve on the first.

With this drawing, it was completed with my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, Caran D'Ache Luminance, one Derwent Coloursoft pencil green-grey and Derwent Drawing Pencils. The back ground was completed using Caran D'Ache Neocolor watersoluble black and Deep Red and then used a Caran D'Ache waterbrush. Originally I was going to just make the background black, but as I was laying down the black and using the waterbrush, I was getting these really interesting dark grey patches, which then gave me the idea of trying to make the background a little bit more interesting, like a filthy wall splattered with blood. This was when I used the Deep Red, holding my breath and worrying that I was going to ruin the entire picture, but I loved the result.

I completed the drawing in my Watercolour Moleskine book, which if I knew this was going to come out as good as it did, I would have completed it on higher quality paper. This only started out as a sketch, but I really got into it and loved it so much as I was going along. I've never done a time lapse video of me drawing anything, it is something I would like to do when I have refined my drawing skills, so with this I done the next best thing and that was take photos at various stages. Below is a list of the stages it took for me to achieve my end result. I hope you enjoy the drawing as much as I have. Thank you all so much for your wonderful support.
