Shopper lets rip at Arnott’s over ‘sneaky’ Iced VoVo ‘change’

‘No more Iced VoVos for me, I’m afraid.’
A supermarket shopper has let rip after purchasing a packet of Iced VoVos.

A supermarket shopper has taken aim at Arnott’s after buying a packet of Iced VoVo biscuits during a recent shopping trip at Woolworths.

Speaking to 7NEWS.com.au, the customer said she was stunned to see how different the popular Australian biscuits appeared to be when compared to the photo on the front of the packet.

Iced VoVos have been available in Australia for 120 years, and are widely regarded as one of the country’s most iconic supermarket buys.

And while an Arnott’s spokesperson has claimed that there’s been no change to the Iced VoVo recipe (see full statement below), the Woolies shopper begs to differ.

She claims that the marshmallow topping is “thinner” and “more white than pink”, and claims she doesn’t “remember Iced VoVos being this small”.

“I’ve been buying Iced VoVos for many years, they’re a favourite in my home,” the shopper told 7NEWS.com.au.

“Admittedly I haven’t bought them for a while, as $4 is a little steep for. a packet of biscuits with the price of groceries these days - they’re a bit of a luxury.

“But I decided to treat myself this week and was shocked by what I saw.

“I definitely don’t remember Iced VoVos being this small - they were like a postage stamp.

“And the marshmallow topping was almost non-existent. On the packet, it looks pillowy and plump and bright pink. In reality, it’s more white than pink and is very flat. So much thinner than how it appears on the packet.

“It feels a little sneaky, there’s definitely been a change.

“They still tasted delicious - maybe more biscuit than marshmallow. But to look at it, nowhere near as lovely and inviting as I remember. No more Iced VoVos for me, I’m afraid.”

Photos of the Iced VoVo on the packet compared to an example of the biscuit inside the pack do appear to show several differences, with the marshmallow topping looking to be less pink and not as fluffy.

In a statement to 7NEWS.com.au, an Arnott’s spokesperson confirmed there’d be no changes to the popular biscuit.

“Our Iced VoVo recipe, comprising of a golden biscuit topped with pink fondant, a strip of sweet raspberry jammy flavoured topping and a sprinkle of coconut, has stayed the same in recent years, as has its size,” the spokesperson said.
