Max Brenner – Adelaide

Chocolatier Max Brenner has opened South Australia’s first Chocolate Bar on the Rundle Street cafe precinct in Adelaide’s CBD. Chocoholics can rejoice as the new addition will celebrate chocolate in all its forms. Max Brenner’s mission is to create a chocolate culture worldwide, and with the opening of their 44th store in Australia, they want to ensure all customers have an indulgent experience.

The store is divided into two sections; the Chocolate Bar and Max’s Chocolate Shop. The Chocolate Bar has a counter area that spans nearly the full length of the room and offers a delicious array of desserts, as well as hot and cold beverages. Customers have the option of enjoying their desserts either indoors or outdoors, with a total seating capacity close to 100. Alternatively, they can do takeaway as well. If you’re looking for a gift idea or want to enjoy Max Brenner products at home, there is Max’s Chocolate Shop which is located in the corner of the store right at the entrance.

Max Brenner General Manager Yael Kaminski said, “We are extremely excited to be opening our doors to the chocoholics of Adelaide and South Australia for the first time. It’s long overdue and Rundle Street will be the perfect home for Max’s delicious chocolate creations.”

“We want to spread our unique chocolate culture to as many choco-lovers as possible, creating chocolate memories to be cherished for a long time to come.” says Yael Kaminski.

Adelaide Food Central, along with other guests, were invited to experience some of Max Brenner’s delicious treats. All food and drink were provided free of charge.

We started off with the Suckao which is a concentrated shot of rich chocolate. The term “Suckao” is made up from two words “suck” – to draw the dense liquid through the metal straw and “Kakao” – the Spanish word for cocoa beans. A special cup that is constantly heated warms up a small pool of milk. The customer adds as little or as much of the chocolate drops as they want, and stir until melted. What you end up with is a delicious chocolate drink that is perfect for the colder weather.

The Addictive Praline Cigar consists of whipped chocolate cream in a milk chocolate shell rolled in nutty crumbs. The chocolate cream is rich and decadent with a silky smooth texture. The chocolate shell is firm and the crumbs add a nice crunchy texture.

The Chocolate Fondue is self explanatory. The dish for two comes with pure melted milk and dark chocolate that is served with strawberries, bananas, marshmallows and banana bread. The chocolate sauce is constantly heated and is a perfect source for those sugar highs. Anything tastes good when dipped in chocolate, so you know you’re on a winner with the fondue.

The Chocolate Crunch Pizza is topped with pure melted chocolate, caramelised pecans, cornflakes, marshmallows and white chocolate drops. The toppings are full of sweet goodness, but what really makes it is the crunchiness of the cornflakes. Loaded onto a thin pizza base, it’s the perfect blend of our two favourite food groups, pizza and dessert.
