    Powerful performance with E PERFORMANCE: front engine, rear electric motor! The drive train of the new AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE combines the AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine on the front axle with an electric drive unit on the rear axle. It integrates a 150 kW (204 hp), permanently excited synchronous electric motor with an electrically switched two-speed gearbox and a mechanical rear axle limited-slip differential. The lightweight, high-performance battery is also located above the rear axle. This compact design results in numerous advantages. The electric motor acts directly on the rear axle and can therefore convert its power more directly into propulsion. This provides an extra boost when starting off, accelerating or overtaking.     United by shared creator values, the collaboration between LaChapelle and Mercedes-Maybach is a fusion of artistry and opulence, redefining the boundaries of automotive design. Following no prescribed brief, LaChapelle chose three of the most impactful art periods as inspiration for the Mercedes-Maybach commission: Cubism, Futurism and Surrealism. The selected art movements, groundbreaking for their time, perfectly allude to Maybach’s history as a pioneering piece of engineering turned aspirational design piece. The challenge was to create artworks that seamlessly integrated the Mercedes-Maybach in an intentional way without drawing focus from the rest of the composition, which was achieved through LaChapelle’s meticulous approach to set-design.     Do you know which technical highlight Mercedes-AMG uses to improve the aerodynamics of the GT 43 Coupé? Through its AIRPANEL active air control system, the horizontal slats behind the upper air inlet can be opened and closed electronically. This allows the airflow to be directed as needed to improve aero performance. Normally the slats are closed to reduce air resistance - even at top speed. Only when certain temperatures are reached and cooling air is required on predefined components do the fins open, allowing maximum airflow to the heat exchangers.
