About half a million people have been told to evacuate their homes in NSW as of Thursday as disastrous floods continue to sweep the east coast which has now caused considerable damage throughout QLD and NSW.
Last week saw the destruction of Brisbane and surrounding areas as floodwaters rose to unfathomable heights before the life-threatening conditions moved south into NSW.
Lismore and Ballina were some of the worst hit earlier this week with four confirmed deaths recorded so far in Lismore.
As the clean-up and search of flooded homes continue in the northern part of the state, Lismore is also facing shortages of essentials such as food, fuel, fresh water and cash as ATMs run out of money.
Photos from the affected areas show the devastating aftermath of the extreme weather conditions which saw homes demolished and streets obliterated.
Photos from around the state show locals in flooded areas continuing to search for people and pets as they scour flooded streets together in boats and rafts.
The devastating floods have also caused wildlife and cattle to be washed from their homes, ending up on suburban streets around the state.
Floods will continue throughout NSW
As of Thursday, major flooding is expected along the Hawkesbury and Nepean and Georges rivers, at Menangle, North Richmond, Penrith and Windsor on Thursday with dozens of Sydney suburbs now on high alert.
The Bureau of Meteorology also issued a Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall and damaging winds for people in parts of Mid North Coast and Hunter Forecast Districts.

The 69-year-old mother of four babies who were found dead in a freezer in the US city of Boston will not face criminal charges. District attorney Kevin Hayden called the investigation "one of the most complex, unusual and perplexing that this office has ever encountered". Investigators don't know whether the four babies - thought to be 37 to 40 weeks old - were born alive, which was part of the reason not to bring criminal charges, Mr Hayden said.
