Today we flash back to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the first games in the history of both the Olympic Summer and Winter Games where the Opening Ceremony was held indoors and broadcast to over three billion viewers worldwide.

Professional Display

At the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Panasonic supplied 29 LED large-screen display systems across 15 venues. The newly-developed, high-luminance LED large-screen display systems and controllers made HD visuals possible at each venue. The screens displayed many emotional scenes during the Games, much to the delight of viewers.

Security Solutions

Panasonic’s security system watched over the safety of the enthusiastic fans, with the Super Dynamic III colour surveillance camera installed at the Whistler Sliding Centre. Panasonic security systems will continue to support the operation of a safe and secure Olympic Games.

Broadcasting Equipment

Panasonic supplied the P2HD series, a news reporting system utilising semiconductor memory, to the IBC (International Broadcast Centre). Moreover, the DVCPRO HD standard was accepted as the official video recording format for the Games. Having supplied a full line-up of HD equipment, Panasonic contributed greatly to the realisation of the “HD Olympics.”

HD Visual Communication System

Vancouver 2010 was the first Olympic Games to introduce the HD visual communication system. The system allowed for bi-directional transmission of Full HD video and clear audio over the internet without delay.

RAMSA Professional Audio System

Panasonic supplied a total of 83 RAMSA professional audio systems across 17 Olympic venues. The perpetually-improving, high-quality sounds were delivered to each venue, beginning with the figure skating competition. Powerful audio enhanced the excitement and emotion of the Games.
