Hi all,
Two weeks ago I already discussed the first game we played on our novelty day. We played a lot more games of course. Right now I want to show a game proposed by another player.
Noctiluca is an ocean inspired game. It made me think about when I'm swimming - I'm a swimmer since age 7 or something - how the light reflects on the ocean surface.
In this game the game board consists out of little hexagons. At the start of a game round these spaces are filled by 5 die each if I remember correctly.
Each player wants to collect a certain combination of die to fullfill their jars. Every turn the chose one line to remove all die of a certain value. These are then put into your jars. Die that do not fit are moved forward to the other players. In the second round turn order changes.
The winner of the game is the one with the most points.
This game can be played solo but up to 4 players. Each play only takes about half an hour an this is suited for the ages 8 and up.
I must say, i liked the game, but I felt it wasn't adding something to the game board I haven't seen before. The collecting of the die made me think about Potion Explotion and it contained quite a bit of luck. The luck is coming from who the die roll at set up. Also this is a very simple game to understand and play. I prefer a bit more complexity. The game does seem like a good family game to me. I feel playing with kids around 10 years old will be a lot of fun. Therefor I still score this game good, because I amused myself, but I don't feel we will add it to our shelves at this point in time.
For me this game is a thumbsup 7/10
On this blog i want to share my experience with the board games I play and board games that catch my eye. I hope you want to tag alone on my journey.
