This Ford Hot Rod got away, but there are more like it here.

This Ford Speedstar coupe was acquired by its previous owner 14 years ago and built as a show car over the following four years. The car features a fiberglass Speedstar body from Rat’s Glass on a Bobby Alloway chassis, and power is from a 350ci GM LT1 V8 paired with a four-speed 4L60 automatic transmission and a Corvette differential. Additional features include iron Police Interceptor cylinder heads, a Crane camshaft, a Lokar shifter, dual exhausts, a custom chrome grille, fabricated torsion bar suspension with billet aluminum components, rack and pinion steering, front and rear disc brakes, staggered wheels, and more. This street rod is offered on consignment by the selling dealer with a clean Oregon title listing it as a 1933 Ford Coupe.

The fiberglass body was combined with an aluminum hood and roll pan, with all finished in House of Kolor metallic green. Exterior features include a chrome grille and headlight housings, a retractable license plate holder, and a wide single taillight. Two accidents over the last year resulted in repairs to the front end, including bodywork and replacement of the grille with a custom item from Tennessee.

Chrome Halibrand-style gasser wheels are fitted with BFGoodrich tires in a “big and little” setup. The custom-fabricated suspension features three torsion bars out back and two up front, all with adjustable preload and hidden by the bodywork. Polished billet aluminum control arms and other components are shown in detail in the gallery below.
