This 1963 Aston Martin DB4 is a left-hand-drive Series V Vantage that was reportedly displayed at the 1963 New York Auto Show before it was sold to its first owner in North Carolina. It subsequently spent time in Maryland, Massachusetts, and California before it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2021. The car is finished in Platinum over blue leather upholstery, and power comes from a numbers-matching 3.7L Special Series inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Features include triple SU HD8 carburetors, covered headlights, 15″ chrome wire wheels, power windows, and a Motorola AM radio. A July 2021 service included the installation of a replacement heater core and front-seat bottom stuffing as well as rebuilds of the carburetors and brake master cylinder. This DB4 Vantage is now offered in Massachusetts with a build sheet, factory books, tools, service records, and a clean California title.

The DB4 featured a lightweight superleggera body penned by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, Italy. Approximately 55 Series V cars were produced between September 1962 through June 1963 and featured a higher roofline and bodywork that was lengthened by 9cm compared to previous DB4s. Additional changes included a revised taillight cluster design and reflectors mounted in the rear bumper, while Vantage models featured a front-end treatment with fared-in headlights similar to the contemporary DB4GT.

This example was delivered from the factory in Platinum and is said to have been repainted in its factory color in the early 1970s. Features include polished bumpers with overriders, a hood scoop, Talbot-style side-view mirrors, a retractable antenna, and fender vents with chrome accents. A gallon of period ICI Hilux paint is included in the sale and can be seen in the gallery.

The 15″ chrome wire wheels feature two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with Avon Turbospeed bias-ply tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel Dunlop discs, and the brake master cylinder was rebuilt in May 2021.

Delivered from the factory with black leather upholstery, the car is said to have been shipped to Aston Martin at Newport Pagnell, England, in 1984, where the seats were retrimmed in blue leather, and matching door panels and carpets were installed. Equipment includes a factory-installed Motorola 808 AM radio, power windows, a heater, a Smiths clock, and front three-point seat belts. The heater core was replaced and front seat bottoms were restuffed in July 2021.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline and a 180-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles.

The 3.7L Special Series inline-six features triple SU HD8 carburetors, larger valves, and a higher compression ratio compared to the standard DB4 and was factory rated at approximately 266 horsepower. The car was factory-optioned with “limited show finish to the engine compartment,” which reportedly included polished fuel rails and cam covers finished in black. The cylinder head is said to have been rebuilt in the 2000s, and the carburetors were rebuilt in 2021. The results of recent compression and leak down tests are shown in the gallery.
