This Ford Galaxie got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 was produced in Norfolk, Virginia in April 1964 as an X-code fastback and has since been fitted with a rebuilt 390ci FE V8 paired with a C6 three-speed automatic transmission. The car was refurbished in the early 1990s as a Galaxie XL tribute and was refinished in red over a black interior. The previous owner purchased the car post-restoration from Peachtree Classic Cars in Fayetteville, Georgia, and the seller acquired it shortly thereafter in April 2013. Further modifications include front disc brakes, rear air shocks, a Flowtech exhaust, and auxiliary gauges. Service performed in 2019 included an oil change, a brake-fluid flush, and a new battery. This Galaxie is now offered with owner’s manuals and factory literature, spare parts, partial service records, car-show trophies, and a clean Oklahoma title in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Wimbledon White (M), this car was repainted in red using two-stage paint in the early 1990s. Badges on the hood and fenders were shaved, and the side trim was modified to remove the rear quarter emblems. New high-beam headlights have been installed under the seller’s ownership. Rust is noted in the rear wheel arches, the passenger-side rocker panel, and other places as detailed in this video as well as in the photo gallery below.

Staggered-width 15″ wheels were powder coated and are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, size 215/70 up front and 255/60 out back, with 2012 date codes. A Scarebird front-disc-brake conversion kit was installed under previous ownership along with a Quickor rear sway bar and rear air shocks. A brake-fluid flush reportedly was performed in June 2019. A walk-around video can be seen above.

Originally delivered from the factory in beige vinyl with a bench seat (74), the interior was redone under previous ownership with black bucket seats, door panels, carpeting, and center console. The seller installed a red 1963 Galaxie steering wheel with new horn brushes, a new brake light switch, and reproduction lap belts. Wear is noted on the bottom of the driver seat, the door panels show evidence of being dyed from blue, and the clock and driver-side door-jamb switch reportedly are inoperable. The functionality of the windows, doors, trunk lid, and hood are demonstrated in the video viewable here.

Instrumentation includes a factory 120-mph ribbon speedometer, a column-mounted VDO tachometer, and Autometer auxiliary gauges mounted under the dash. The factory temperature gauge has been disconnected in favor of the Autometer gauge. A B&M shift kit was installed under previous ownership. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 89k miles, of which the seller has added approximately 1,700.

The 390ci FE V8 was reportedly sourced, rebuilt, balanced, and blueprinted during the car’s refurbishment in the 1990s. An oil change was performed in May 2019, and an oil leak is noted by the seller. Modifications installed under previous ownership are said to include a Crane 292-584 camshaft, Arias forged pistons, titanium valves, double valve springs, Rhoads lifters, bronze chain guides, a Mallory Unilite distributor, Taylor 8mm spark-plug wires, Autolite 45 spark plugs, and Sanderson shorty headers.
