Photograph caption dated November 18, 1959 reads "Miss Jackie Suess, center, of Van Nuys, member of Valley Presbyterian Hospital's teenage volunteers, Candy Stripers, tries on nursing cap she will wear after completing training at UCLA College of Nursing. With her are Mrs. Ella Miles, R.N., right, director of VPH, and Mrs. Jean Goldwater, director of VPH volunteers. Miss Suess' schooling will be assisted by scholarships from Van Nuys Women's Club and San Fernando branch, Los Angeles Medical Association Auxiliary."
