‘Star Trek: Picard’ Unveils Final Season Teaser Trailer & ‘TNG’ Portraits To Hall H – Comic-Con

Star Trek Picard Unveils S3 Teaser, Character Posters - Comic-Con

“As long as you and your crew remain steadfast, you are never without hope,” intones Sir Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard in the teaser trailer for the final season of Star Trek: Picard that just dropped at Comic-Con. Watch it above.

Featuring an array of characters from the fabled Star Trek: The Next Generation series rejoining their captain on what looks to be his final mission, the one-minute peek at the upcoming third season of Picard was the crescendo in many ways of today’s Hall H gathering. Having first ignited the cavernous venue back in 2019 with the return of Stewart on Picard’s inaugural SDCC panel, Saturday was a full circle of sorts for the X-Men vet, his past and present crew and the show’s EPs in the 2022 Trekverse mega-panel.

Filmed back-to-back with the now-concluded Season 2, the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard is set to launch on Paramount+ next year.

To that end, with Stewart, TNG vet Gates McFadden and EP Rod Roddenberry onstage, Picard executive producer and Trekverse overlord Alex Kurtzman unveiled individual glimpses of the Season 3 cast today.

Art featuring portraits of Stewart, McFadden, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd’s characters, who also were featured in the teaser trailer, were shown to the Hall H crowd with great fanfare.

‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Gets Season 3 Trailer, Character Portraits At Comic-Con

It was announced in April that the TNG actors, some of whom already have been a part of Picard in previous seasons, would be a part of the final season. Brent Spiner, who played Data on TNG and has been in Season 1 and 2 of Picard, will be back for Season 3 too.

Said Kurtzman about brining the Next Generation crew back together, that pinnacle had to be earned per Stewart’s suggestion.

“We didn’t want to have cameos, but serious roles,” said Kurtzman onstage at Hall H.

The series creator continued: “At the beginning of the season, the crew is in different places around the galaxy. Slowly we see them come together.”

“Patrick said, ‘I want to do this show, I don’t want to repeat old things,'” he added.

In the villain that was created this season, about which Kurtzman remained mum, except to say that she’s a female, the writers’ room took great inspiration from Khan. Kurtzman added that Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine will be dealing with “who her identity is, and who the identity of Starfleet and where she fits in.”

Star Trek: Picard is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. For the third season, Stewart, Kurtzman, Roddenberry, Akiva Goldsman, Terry Matalas, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski and Dylan Massin serve as executive producers. Terry Matalas is onboard as showrunner for the 10-episode final season.

Back in-person for the first time since 2019, Comic-Con 2022 wraps up Sunday.
