V.1.9.0 - Mastery Trials Patch

We are moving the mastery trials content to a separate patch further down the line. Due to the large-scale update of 1.8, it is difficult to properly bug test this as these are large content and balance updates on their own. We are confident that 1.8 will bring a lot of content already. We do not anticipate this will take much longer after 1.8.1 either. This will be the last content update pre-2.0.

V.1.8.1 will happen shortly (estimated less than a few weeks time) after 1.8, as we will be doing some post-1.8 bug-fixing. We will be sunsetting the Christmas event and Winterbane for a new event. Stay tuned for more news.

V.1.8.0 - The Story Revamp Update (Whenever it's ready)

More or less the final list before the 1.8 update. Please be aware that the game will be unavailable for play as we conduct maintenance on the game version for at least 24 hours. Maintenance compensation will be given out in the mailbox as a token of thanks for waiting for the update.

1.8 is a soft relaunch of the game. Due to the game being mostly rewritten, some content or features may not be immediately available.

New Content

  • A lot of new Mayhems, including Civil War
  • Level is now capped at 999 (soft cap 300). Dungeons no longer have level requirements and can be entered at any level.

  • New Gemstone: Ichor Limiter (Decreases the amount of damage caused by Bleed by 10/15/20/25/30/35%. Healing is enabled for 3 seconds at 15% efficacy after receiving a stack of Bleed)

Echoes
  • Echoes are new materials used to ascend the maximum level of a character.

Major Changes

  • The PVP modes will be retired indefinitely as our resources can not manage such a mode properly. RIP the 2 players that still play it somehow. Down the line, we will be replacing this instead with Guild Battles.
  • Blacksmith Reinforce has been revamped: Players will no longer need to craft/find dupes of their weapons to limit break; instead a new material called “Chaos Memories” will be added which will replace the limit break material
  • Players can no longer deflect the red ball projectiles
  • Clyde Rework
  • Lingering Force’s Critical Mercy has been revamped → LF gains the ability to use Lightning Surge upon reaching 100 CP Gauge. When LF uses his secondary attack, he will jump up in the air and after a delay, slam a Spear down into the ground, damaging all units and inflicting Impaled. If an enemy is hit, grants LF bonus Combo Score gain, a Heal, and Attack Speed.
  • Major Lobby Rework v1 (entire lobby systems changed & new map). Please check the details below for more information.
  • Depending on local country laws, some materials, weapons, or items may become untradeable
  • You are now allowed to change weapons and trophies while on the battlefield
  • Removed the EXP cap past Level 220
  • Riposte and Guard Counter now have additional properties → Fully regenerates Stamina, grants passive Combo Score gains for a while, resets Vestige of Johannes Emperor cooldown, & half of Critical Wounds will be replenished
  • Simulated Battles have been completely revamped
  • Blacksmith Upgrade & Reinforce services slight revamp
  • All returning players are required to replay the introduction (forced when pressing Start Game). This will start the main quest line. Choosing a character in this will not automatically save the progress of the unlock (if you chose another character other than the one you originally chose, it will not save)
  • Vestige of the Johannes Emperor has a completely revamped new effect. Its old effect has been moved to an Equipment Skill.
  • Max Inventory Size for Weapons, Trophies, and gems is increased to 400 (or 450 with the Game Pass)
  • Users in Random Item Restricted areas (like Belgium & Netherlands) will no longer be able to buy Aura boxes. Will provide an alternative way to get these at a later date.
  • All in-game settings have been reset due to the setting menu revamp. Please readjust them before playing.
  • Bosses have better indicators on what is blockables/parriables/dodgeables
  • Cry Increase Gem becomes Ultimate Increase - Increases Ultimate Gauge recovery per hit
New Lobby
  • We will be retiring the old Town Lobby. Any achievements, secrets, and minigames tied to the old lobby will be sunsetted and can no longer be used or obtained. We will be releasing version 1 of the new lobby. As the game continues to mature, we will periodically expand the content the new lobby will offer.

Balance Changes

  • Co-Op life force drain is reduced significantly per additional player in the party
  • Skill ordering for most characters adjusted
  • Lingering Force’s Trident Berserker will now proc on Impaled units in addition to 500 Combo Score condition
  • Alburn’s Demonic Fury damage buff increased from 3% → 5%
  • Alburn’s Searing Edge now has added properties → Will now consume all Barrier upon use. Alburn’s Maximum HP temporarily increases by 25% upon hitting an enemy unit, and the damage dealt increases by 200% of the Barrier consumed.
  • Combo Score Time Increase gem increased from 10/15/20/25/30/35% to 40/50/60/70/80/90%
  • Achievement economy has been rebalanced - Tear rewards have been significantly reduced, however we offset this by adding hundreds of more achievements, each giving out its fair share of own Tears, Gold, and extra goodies. All of these new ones should be relatively easy to get by just playing the game normally
  • Barrier Decay will not reduce below the Overheal amount
  • Stamina Pots now regenerate stamina every 2 seconds instead of every frame (still the same total amount recovered over the duration)
  • Drinking too many Potions in a short period induces the Potion Sickness debuff → All consecutive potion durations will be reduced by 80%.
  • Removed the VIP game pass portion of Reduces all current & future class prices by 20%. This wasn’t working anyway. To compensate for this removal, VIP game pass’ Gold gain increased from 10% → 20%
  • Red’s Reflection can now Parry (but still cannot block)
  • Red’s Sniper Canister damage is now a range, from 500% bonus damage to 100% - 500% damage (based on current Level, maxes out at Level 300)
  • Red’s Rifle, Shotgun, and Sniper gotten minor revamps
  • Enemy hitbox adjustments
  • Parrying now consumes stamina on successful hit, but will not block break if you reach 0 stamina
  • Parry window slightly increased
  • Parry spam reset lowered from 3s to 0.5s
  • Can parry while at zero stamina
  • Swift Attack, Atk Increase, Primal Curse & Bloodlust, Ranger, & Under Pressure no longer increases damage multiplicatively

  • Natsuko’s Dragon Punch startup is significantly faster (5s → 1.5s)
  • Natsuko’s Dragon Punch will no longer reduce Dented Blows
  • Natsuko’s Dragon Punch will deal double damage when hitting the input at the right time, and grants bonus Dented Blows
  • Natsuko’s Dragon Punch has significantly reduced cooldown (7.5s → 3s)
  • Natsuko’s Whirlwind Strike has been revamped and does two different attacks depending on if Natsuko is grounded or Airborne
  • Natsuko’s Roaring Flames no longer stacks, has half the stamina regen, but now regenerates stamina at double the rate
  • Darwin’s Fervors Edge has adjusted properties → Upgrading an Active or a Passive skill grants a stack of Combat Concentration. Dealing damage heals for 15 HP. Each stack of Combat Concentration increases Light Attack damage and this passive’s healing by 2%.
  • Darwin’s Focused Charge now procs on both Dodge + Parry. Additionally gain a bonus property: For every 1% additional Attack Speed past its cap, gain bonus Critical Chance and Critical Damage
  • Darwin’s Crescent Dawn gains a new property: When lethal damage is taken while Crescent Dawn is active, gain double damage and heal 25% MAX HP

Natsuko struggles against enemies that are Immovable or cannot be displaced. Additionally, she has a bit too much power when the unit can be displaced through the use of Grapple, so we have brought over some power from Grapple to her other abilities, allowing her to stand on her own against units that cannot be displaced.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed Red’s animation problems where her animations flip-flops all over the place
  • Fixed an issue where Vestige of Protection was not working 99% of the time
  • Fixed an issue where Red’s wallrunning would void her
  • Fixed an issue where LingeringForce’s Spiral Divergence would fling with a bit too much intensity
  • Fixed an issue where the skill descriptions during the skill menu have large spaces between paragraphs
  • Fixed an issue where the achievements claim did not refresh the UI
  • Fixed an issue where Barrier Decay decreases faster the lower HP you are (such as the likes of Critical Wounds)
  • Fixed an issue where some missions or lobby servers prevent you from changing costumes
  • Fixed an issue where one of the Stam Potions was not working in some missions
  • Fixed an issue where Johannes Gatekeeper’s Piercing Shot visuals did not have the correct timings
  • Fixed an issue where Vestige of Reform did not grant stacking bonuses
  • Alburn’s Defensive Roundslash now actually Parries
  • Possible fix for Heart of Atlas alt-route (99.9% sure it works now)
  • Possible fix for missions that can spawn the same boss multiple times (this is on a per-mission basis, I may have missed some missions but the root cause has been found)
  • Some more fixes & checks for possible voiding issues. May not wholly fix voiding but some should be prevented before it happens
  • Minor UI fixes to the Shop

General Improvements

  • No longer need to reach Level 5 before players can see the skill menu
  • Important status effects (buffs, debuffs) will now appear on your UI and also on the enemy’s HP bars for better clarity on when they run out, and how many stacks they have
  • Improved Gamepad support
  • Mayhem Modifiers now grant 3 Mayhem Levels instead of 1
  • Updated Journal UI to make it easier to navigate
  • Revamped the Mission Debriefings tab to be a stats and leaderboard page
  • Game now preloads all attack animations upon spawning in (no more delay whenever trying out a new skill for the first time)
  • Improved Lingering Force’s Spearlancer responsiveness and input delay
  • Upon Reforging gems, you can now see which gems you instantly forged at a glance
  • Remade the custom network model, vastly improving server performance and reducing bandwidth throughput to the entire game. This should prevent people’s 2001 wifi chips from overheating now, and increase FPS to lower spec users
  • Reduced CPU consumption and network bandwidth when using Red
  • Reduced network bandwidth while in combat and improved FPS in some gameplay features
  • Improved some UI elements for mobile or small-resolution users
  • Improved the detection of when players fall through the map. The game should not ping-pong the player anymore when they fall under the map, and should teleport them safely back to the last time they were on solid ground

Miscellaneous

  • New Healing Type: True Healing - Same as normal healing but is not affected by any debuffs or buffs that decreases/increases this amount of healing
  • Due to outdated hardware and screen resolution, IPhone 4S and equivalent hardware will no longer be supported
  • Unlock All Normal Characters Gamepass will be taken off sale probably permanently. Any users who have purchased this game pass prior will have their benefits grandfathered and will not change
  • In-game purchases that require the use of Robux will be temporarily disabled in the event of a Roblox outage

New Grapple Skill Description

Natsuko will do 2 different moves depending on if she is grounded or in the air.

TAP WHILE GROUNDED: Natsuko will uppercut, sending the first foe airborne for 1 second and dealing damage. Targets sent airborne using this method cannot be airborned the same way for 10 seconds.

TAP WHILE AERIAL: Natsuko will grab the first Airborne target and sends them crashing down to the floor with her, dealing max impact damage based on how high they fell + 5% per Dented Blow stack and is granted up to 25 Dented Blows. If Max Impact Damage was reached, the target’s Dented Blows is doubled and is Rooted in place for 2 seconds.

Nearby enemies caught within the impact smash will be dealt 50% of the damage done to the initial target and will gain Dented Blow stacks equal to that of the initial target.

Some enemies can’t be grappled. Max Impact Damage reached after falling for at least 1 second. Natsuko is invulnerable during the aerial slam.

Balance Changes

  • Muscular Power now takes into current Barrier amount
  • Stamina Use Decrease gem has 60% increased values at all ranks
  • Improved telegraphing on most bosses
  • Passive Stamina Regeneration is lowered to 10% of its efficacy while blocking

Balance Changes

  • Red’s Nanoparticle Wall now has HP which breaks after protecting a user for too long
  • Red’s Brace now behaves like a Parry/Block
  • Red’s weapon damage is increased by 50% if afflicted by elemental buffs (to offset the fire damage fix)
  • Fatal Strike’s flat damage will be converted to Attack Power, and your damage cannot go below a certain threshold
  • Alburn Attack Power on all attacks increased
  • Alburn Powers United no longer grants bonus damage based on MAX HP
  • Alburn Overwhelming Strength gains a new property: Receive temporary Barrier equal to 50% of all damage taken within the last 5 seconds

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Fire elemental damage carried over the damage scaling of the initial attack, applying exponential damage
  • Chained Seal and some Craftables had lowered upgrade amounts and enchant slots due to unintended changes. Should be reverted.
  • Red’s Drone should now shoot through the Nanoparticle Wall correctly
  • Red’s Brace should now be able to take more than 1 instance of damage
  • Natsuko Flash Kick should be working correctly

[Note Regarding Primal] - Some enemies, like the final boss of Chapter 1, have a soft damage cap that drastically decreases the damage they take. This cap differs depending on the character they are playing (ie. Alburn has a higher damage cap than LingeringForce). Usually, it is impossible to reach this cap unless you have absurd damage increases, which Primal does. In conclusion, Primal is working as intended.

General Improvements

  • Lockon system will no longer reset your camera angle when unlocking

Major Changes

  • Blocking one instance of damage will not automatically unblock.
  • Crit Chance revamp (every 30 Crit = 1% Crit Chance)

  • Old Fire: 50% of the damage dealt will be converted to True Damage over 5 seconds. The other 50% of the damage is dealt as physical damage immediately.

  • Character Unlock Requirements are no longer indicated in the Shop whenever there is a gameplay-locked character (like LF). They are now located in the Journal.
  • Skillful Mastery Changed Passive: Weapons that are upgraded or enchanted will receive a damage boost. Weapon Level requirements are also decreased by the same amount.

[Note regarding the damage changes to all characters]
We have revamped the way damage works in the game, enabling us better control over the balance of enemies and characters. While it may seem like a drastic nerf, do be aware that we are also significantly decreasing all enemy HP to compensate. The goal is to balance out the power spikes while keeping the feeling of your progress intact. When we update with 2.0, the goal is to make it feel like nothing has changed that much except your damage numbers will visually be lower.

[Note regarding Material Cap limit decrease]
Materials make up a large portion of a user’s data size. Due to potential scalability issues in the future, the amount of materials a user can hold at any one time is decreased. While there are no issues regarding the pre-nerfed material cap at the moment, it can become troublesome as we add more features, contributing to more user save data bloat. This can lead to situations where the user’s data can get too large, introducing higher network traffic for the user, slower load times, and even data loss. We will be monitoring the situation after this material cap decrease, and the cap may be lowered even further to accommodate future updates.

Bug Fixes

  • Natsuko’s Weakness Exploit did not correctly give more damage when her Combo Score increased, this has now been fixed
  • Fixed an issue where Trophies had increased damage when the player used a skill
  • Darwin’s Light Attacks now properly scale and regen stamina again
  • Darwin’s Elysian Counter now deals damage again
  • Fixed an issue where Alburn’s Light Attacks was healing 80% of Alburn’s HP instead of the indicated 8%.

This is a quality-of-life change that is targeted at making the rewards feel better while also improving on the reward systems of Mayhem Modifiers.

  • Primal Curse and Bloodlust Gemstone limits you to 1 Life when you die. Your first incapacitation automatically sends you back to the lobby, and you cannot respawn if you are in a party.

[Note regarding the Primal Nerf]
Primal is one of those gems where it is vital in a lot of people’s kits. Some classes are considered “useless” in the damage meta unless they have Primal. Primal was and will always be the experimental gem for players who seeks a challenge, and not a gem meant to be the end-all-be-all gem for serious end-game builds. In an effort to decentralize Primal in builds, we will be making efforts to minimize its use in normal builds while buffing any characters that once relied on Primal to deal damage.

(Tranquility Mode)

If you lost on a Normal difficulty map 3 or more times while soloing, you have the option to turn on Tranquility Mode in the dungeon lobby.

Tranquillity mode reduces all incoming damage by 20%, plus 2% for every additional incapacitation (up to a cap of 80%). This buff is permanent, even if you lost or won. This buff turns off when you disable Tranquility mode and does not save when you leave.

While Tranquility Mode is active, all loot chances, Gold and EXP rates are decreased by 70% and all drops are capped at 1, regardless if you have the Special Loot game pass. Solo leaderboards are disabled.

Regarding High Vigils and Heart of Atlas difficulty spike

This update focuses on major rebalancing and is one of many changes coming. We have seen the mountain of feedback regarding the lack of direction and unforgiving progression. Thank you to all players who have provided this valuable feedback. This was a lesson well learned and we hope this patch can fix some discrepancy and difficulty spikes caused by these maps.

We will be making the following additions and changes to remedy the difficult contrast between High Vigils and Heart of Atlas.

  • Note: Users who have completed Heart of Atlas must now complete both new missions before they can start revisiting Atlas. Users who have or could not complete High Vigils: Mysterious Distress Signal will have a much easier revamped progression and difficulty curve. They are required to complete High Vigils (much more beginner-friendly) and City Roads once more before they can unlock the new missions. Getting Hero mode gear is now no longer required to beat Heart of Atlas.

  • All players who played previously will have their stats and skills soft resetted. This means that all skill points and EXP are refunded to you (as if you used a character reset scroll). Don’t worry, nothing was lost, you are just required to raise them again in your tab menu as this a major balance change.

Balance Adjustments

  • Hero Mode will no longer be individually unlockable. Hero levelled maps will unlock only after clearing Heart of Atlas
  • Hero mode maps will no longer have increased levels. They are now at the same level as Heart of Atlas
  • City Roads normal boss damage slightly reduced
  • City Roads normal boss HP slightly reduced
  • City Roads mob waves halved
  • Golem boss has significantly reduced HP, damage, and attack speed
  • Boss HP is now scaled less linearly when there are more players (more players = less HP gained for the boss)
  • Driller facility gem generation time halved on all levels
  • Mainframe max level increased to 75 facilities from 40
  • Gold facility max level gold generation increased to 2,000 per hour
  • Leveling stats now diminishes a lot less harshly

In an effort to reduce gem powerscaling and to leave it as a min/max tool, we will be making the following adjustments to these gems:

  • ATK Increase Gem increased from 2/3/5/7/9/12% to 5/6/12/18/24/30%
  • DEF Increase Gem decreased from 10/11/12/13/14/15% to 7/8/9/10/11/12%
  • Gold Increase Gem increased from 2/4/6/10/15/25% to 15/20/25/30/35/40%
  • Stamina Use Decrease Gem decreased from 10/15/20/25/30/35% to 20/21/22/23/24/25%
  • Fortitude Gem decreased from 30/33/36/40/45/50% to 20/22/24/26/28/30%
  • Critical Wounds Decrease Gem increased from 15/20/25/30/35/40% to 25/30/35/40/45/50%
  • Battle Scars gem heals decreased from 1% to 0.5% of max HP per second
  • Muscular Power Gem decreased from 4/5/7/9/11/14% to 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2/2.5% (we realized Muscular Power is outshining every source of other damaging gems, making it too viable as a pick. It will also not lend well to future content expansions as trophies will get increasingly more and more HP, making it difficult to balance. Rank 1 Muscular Power was dealing well over even Octagon rarity Attack Increase gem.)

  • Heart of Atlas triggers cannot be jumped over. Some triggers are also wider

  • Valeri Soul Siphon tick rate increased from 0.25s to 0.75s
  • Valeri Soul Siphon damage increased by 400%
  • Valeri Soul Siphon siphons at 65% of the value instead of 20%
  • Valeri Soul Siphon gives an additional Combo Score per unit hit
  • Red Battery Dash/Sight turrets have 10% decreased damage
