Many people are surprised to hear that babies can get cavities too!! Severe Early Childhood Caries (SECC), also known as Baby Bottle Decay can happen to children from the moment a tooth erupts into the mouth. We often hear “the tooth came out like that”. The best thing we can do is start brushing from the moment the teeth come through the gums.

Factors that make a child at risk for SECC is drinking milk, juice, or formula at bed time. Breastfeeding can also be a factor once food is introduced in the diet.

Start great habits early to prevent decay on your child’s teeth! Make sure when you’re brushing you get those top 4 teeth really well!
