E-bikes come in all shapes and sizes, and there are rides for all sorts of different riding styles, but there is only one thing that matters in this roundup – speed.

The 7 listed in this review are all thoroughbred stallions and simply fly.

So, if you candle a wild ride, join us as we list the 7 fastest e-bikes the world has to offer.

Fastest at a glance:

Hi Power Cycles Revolution X9

Hallomotor FC-1

Nireeka Mega 1500

Before we get fully stuck in it’s important to understand the laws.

There are top speed regulations for electric bikes in many different nations and you may not be able to ride some of these bikes in the country you live.

In the UK, EU, Australia, and New Zealand the maximum speed limit for an electric bike is 25km/h.

In the United States the law differs and it varies depending on what state you are in. 39 states have a 3-class system for e-bikes:

  • Class 1 has a top speed limit of 32km/h and has a pedal-assisted motor
  • Class 2 is an electric bike that has a throttle-activated motor and also has a limit of 32km/h,
  • Class 3 has a limit of 45km/h and in many states extra safety precautions are required for riders to be able to ride them.

Some states require you to register an e-bike officially with the authorities before you’re legally allowed to ride them on the roads – these states are Alabama, Hawaii, Louisiana, Alaska, Massachusetts, New Mexico, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

You can find out more about the specific law in your state by visiting this blog we put together.

What’s the fastest electric bike?

So you now know a bit more about the laws, now let’s get to the fun part and learn more about the fastest electric bike in the world.

Hi Power Cycles Revolution X9

4.5/5
HP Revolution X9

Best and fastest electric bike

Good for – Speed

Price – $18,325

Top speed – 104km/h

Peaks: 👍

Troughs:👎

Summary:

The Revolution X9 is one of the fastest electric mountain bike ever created and it offers an insanely quick top speed of around 104km/h.

The company claims during tests they achieved speeds in excess of that figure, however, to get up to that level you need a wide-open expanse and HPC did their test runs on a dried up lake bed.

It’s an astonishing speed, however, it doesn’t come cheap and availability is scare.

Weight/Frame

The HPC Revolution X9 has a carbon frame and ultra-sturdy Kevlar side panelling, to protect the bike’s key electrical components, in case you have a spill.

Those chunky electrical components, which help achieve the immense top speed, aren’t light and the bike weighs in at 36kg.

That doesn’t make it easy to handle or manipulate and given its crackers top limit, it’s not a surprise.

This isn’t a bike for the twisty sections, it’s a bike to really open up when you have lots of space.

Battery

The HPC Revolution X9 comes with a huge 3,450Wh battery, which involves a custom battery management system, along with a Song-produced VTC6 drain cell.

This enormous setup is needed to cope with the demands of the motor and the overall speed capabilities.

However, it does more than just that, you also get a 160km range.

Motor

The motor is where the magic happens with this one – it’s an HPC custom component, which has a top output of 9,000Wh – yep you heard that right.

It’s finely tuned with thicker copper features, which helps it perform far higher than most commercial e-bike motors out right now. It has a top torque figure of 246Nm.

That provides you with the top speed of around 104km/h and makes it the fastest electric bike for adults (certainly not one for kids here).

There are 2 modes of assist – one, which applies with the class 2 legislation and has a top speed of 32 km/h, making it the fastest street legal electric bike.

However, there is also an off-road mode, made for private property or other locations where the bike is legal – allowing it to reach its mega top speed figure of 120km/h.

Suspension

dvo onyx dc1 fork

DVO ONYX DC1

DVO Jade Rear Shock

DVO Jade coil shock

The Revolution X9 doesn’t scrimp in the suspension department either.

It’s fitted with a RockShox Boxxer Select fork, which has 200mm of travel – that gears the bike up for some seriously rough terrain.

It also helps the bike cope with the heavy overall weight and the stress it’s put under at high speeds.

At the rear end you get a DVO Jade coil shock – again, a heavy-duty component, which can suck up the punishment the bike faces at high speed.

Wheels/Tyres

To cope with the high speeds, the Revolution X9 needs a very durable set of feet.

HPC have thought about this and included an ultra-strong pair of custom wheels, which are coated in a pair of moped tyres – these can cope with the enormous amount of heat which passes through the tyre.

They’re heavy, with thick outer casings, which can cope with high levels of speed stress.

Brakes

The bike comes with an upgraded version of the Magura MT7e brakes, which have special 220mm rotors included, to offer enough biting power to bring the bike to a halt.

They perform admirably considering the nuts speeds the bike can go and there is an intelligence to the brakes’ heat dissipation.

Final Thoughts

This bike is an absolute monster, which can produce unrivalled speed.

It’s the fastest electric bike we’ve ever come across, but that makes it hard to come by.

The fastest electric pedal bike is currently sold out and there is no indication when HPC might re-release it.

Hallomotor FC-1

2/5
Hallomotor FC-1

Good for – Speed

Price – $4,868

Top speed – 110km/h

Peaks:👍

Troughs:👎

Summary:

The Hallomotor FC-1 is an absolutely rapid machine, but it doesn’t offer the same quality of overall ride experience, or components, that the HPC models do in this list.

You can’t doubt its pacy credentials though, with it offering up a top speed of around 110km/h, depending on the terrain.

Weight/Frame

It comes with a weighty custom steel frame, which, although offering plenty of support, doesn’t make it a playful bike.

It’s a really quite cumbersome beast, with an overall weight of 42kg, which makes the handling experience feel clunky and uncomfortable.

We aren’t big fans of the overall riding experience as a result.

Battery

72V 40AH Samsung INR21700-40T Lithium Battery

Samsung INR21700-40T Lithium Battery

The bike comes with a 2,880Wh Samsung INR21700-40T battery, which is a weighty savage, contributing to that overall heavyweight figure.

It doesn’t offer a particularly impressive range either, topping out at around 75km.

It’s a disappointment considering its size and the bike’s weight.

Motor

The bike is better served in the motor department, with a 5000Wh custom motor, which offers a very hearty punch.

It goes a long way to coping with the bike’s heavy weight and it can remarkably get up to more than 110km/h.

It’s a mightily powerful kick, but it certainly doesn’t feel smooth in its power output. It feels very jerky and uncomfortable to tame in the corners.

Not ideal when you are carrying a big machine around with you.

Suspension

Taiwan DNM Burner RCP2S 265mm

Taiwan DNM Burner RCP2S 265mm

Taiwan DNM Triple Crown USD-8S DH Front Suspension Fork

Taiwan DNM Triple Crown USD-8S DH

The FC-1 comes with 180mm of travel in the forks, with a Taiwan DNM Triple Crown downhill model fitted as standard.

You also get a 265mm of travel in the spring coil shocks, which are also supplied by Taiwan DNM.

It’s a chunky set-up designed to cope with the rigors of that unwieldy bike, but it certainly doesn’t offer a great deal of playfulness.

The bike is too heavy for rough and ready terrain.

Wheels/Tyres

The FC-1 comes with a robust pair of motorcycle wheels, which are used to help offer enough support for the bike’s bulky frame.

They do the trick, but yet again, it feels like a cumbersome component and they feel clunky to move around.

You also get a super thick pair of DH tires, which offer a firm bite, but again add extra weight.

Brakes

Front and Rear HalloMotor Unique Dual Front Hydraulic Disc Brake
Front and Rear HalloMotor Unique Dual Front Hydraulic Disc Brake

The FC-1 uses a custom pair of hydraulic disc brakes, which have large 203mm rotors.

They’re nothing special if we’re honest and can feel under-gunned compared to the immense speed the bike can travel at.

That creates an unnerving riding experience and you never feel like you have full trust in the bike’s stopping power.

Final Thoughts

The FC-1 is a letdown.

Yes, it offers a fast top speed, but it’s a naff ride, which feels very heavy, yet doesn’t offer an impressive range.

It’s poor to handle, the brakes don’t perform well enough and the suspension figures offer a lot on paper, but the performance is poor.

It’s a budget bike in this sector of the market, but not one to jump at the chance at riding in our opinion.

Hi Power Cycles Revolution X

4.5/5
Hi Power Cycles Revolution X

Good for – Speed

Price – $13,695 (most powerful spec option)

Top speed – 96km/h

Peaks: 👍

Troughs:👎

Summary:

The Revolution X is the junior sibling to the fastest electric bike, the Revolution XX, and it’s much easier to get your hands on.

It boasts a top speed of up to 96km/h, which is still ferociously quick and it comes in varying different spec options, which vary in price.

Weight/Frame

The HPC Revolution X comes with a mixed carbon/aluminium frame, to offer extra sturdiness and provide protection from any potential crashes at high speed.

The weight depends on the optional extras you go for, with the largest battery and motor options, you weigh in at 44kg.

It’s a big old monster and that doesn’t make it easy to play around with, however, it’s made to be a pure speed machine and it does that perfectly.

Battery

The HPC Revolution X comes in varying battery sizes.

The standard 1,290Wh custom model offers a range of around 85km, but there are also 2 larger options – a 1,800Wh custom model, which offers a range of up to 120km, and the largest (most expensive) 2,400Wh model, which can take you up to around 160km.

The largest range option is $2,000 more than the standard model, but it does offer a massive day out on the trails.

Motor

HPC Gearless DC Hub Motor 6000W

HPC Gearless DC Hub Motor 6000W

You can also tweak the motor set-up on your Revolution X at the point of purchase.

The standard option is a 6000W HPC custom motor, but there’s also a 7000Wh option and the fastest 8000Wh model.

The most powerful option (which we’ve included for the model we’ve reviewed here) can kick out up to 235Nm of torque – a phenomenal amount of power, that allows you to reach speeds of close to 100km/h.

Suspension

DVO Jade Rear Shock

DVO Jade Rear Shock

DVO Onyx DC Air Fork

DVO Onyx DC Air Fork

The Revolution X is fitted with a heavy-duty suspension set-up capable of taking some rough and ready riding.

It comes with 200mm of travel in the forks, which are supplied by DVO, with the Onyx DC Air fork, and at the rear end you get a DVO Jade coil spring shock.

This helps the bike cope with the heavy overall weight and it does allow you to take on some rough terrain, however, it isn’t made for technical riding.

Flat and fast is where the bike excels and the top weight figure limits the bike elsewhere.

Wheels/Tyres

Kenda Nevegal Pro 26 x 2.7

Kenda Nevegal Pro 26 x 2.7"

It comes fitted with a custom pair of sturdy aluminium wheels, which offer enough support to take on high speeds and cope with the bike’s weight.

These are supported further by an ultra-durable pair of Kenda Nevegal Pro wheels, which have a 2.7 inch wide tread.

This helps with traction to generate those high speeds and cushions the impacts nicely while out spinning.

Brakes

Magura MT7e Hydraulic Brakes

The Revolution X comes fitted with the same pair of Magura MT7e brakes, the same as the ones on its faster sibling.

They do a great job of bringing this fast-moving beast to a halt and coming up stumps when you need them most.

Final Thoughts

It’s another powerhouse from the crew at HPC.

The Revolution X model is in stock and much easier to get your hands on (if you have the money to spend).

With a range of set-up options you can tailor it to your desires and it offers huge range and immense power no matter which battery/motor combo you go for.

The top 2 fastest electric pedal bikes go to HPC.

Stealth B-52

3/5
Stealth B-52

Good for – Speed

Price – $12,800

Top speed – 80km/h

Peaks:👍

Troughs:👎

Summary:

The Stealth B-52 looks the part – it has a very sleek-looking, all-black design and a burly suspension to take some rough riding.

However, although it looks compact and hits a top speed figure of 80km/h, it’s a weighty beast and isn’t the easiest to play around with.

Weight/Frame

When we say weighty, we mean really weighty – it comes in at 50kg, which clearly is an issue for the overall ride experience.

It doesn’t make it easy to manipulate, and that reduces the fun factor a lot.

It has an aluminum frame, with a super strong exoskeleton around the outside, which is there to help protect the electrical components.

Although it looks very stylish and has some important safety features in there, it’s hard to look past the weight.

Battery

It comes with a 2,500Wh custom battery, which has a decent range of around 80km.

Considering the overall heavy weight, we may have expected a little extra in the range department, but it still offers a good few hours of fun.

One big plus side is the battery charge time, it fully juices up from empty to 100% in only 3 hours – that’s one of the quicker battery charge times out there, which gets you out on the trails again at pace.

Motor

The B-52 comes with a custom 6,200Wh motor, which packs a serious punch, helping the bike reach speeds of up to 80km/h.

Certainly quick for a 50kg machine, and it delivers the power intelligently, dropping off and kicking into action without an unnatural jerkiness.

Suspension

The bike also has a chunky suspension set-up, which is needed given how weighty the bike is.

You get 180mm of travel at the front end and 200mm at the rear, with a pair of FastAce forks and a well-designed custom coil shock.

That helps cope with the 50kg you’re dragging around the trails, but also allows you to take on some lumps and bumps.

However, the genuine trail capabilities aren’t great due to the overall weight.

Wheels/Tyres

It comes with a 27.5-inch wheel set-up at both the front and the rear, which have a 2.8-inch tread.

They’re custom components, which are ultra-strong and made to cope with the stress of high speeds.

Although the durability is welcomed, you feel the extra weight and it takes away from any sort of playfulness.

Brakes

The B-52 comes fitted with a highly tuned pair of Minicross Hydraulic brakes, which have 250mm rotors.

They’re up to the job of bringing this big powerhouse of a bike to a halt and coping well with the heat stress at high speed.

Final Thoughts

It’s a very good-looking e-MTB and has some commendable features – the suspension, motor performance, brakes, and design, along with the top speed, are all great.

However, the weight is a real issue and although the bike is fast, it’s really sluggish in the handling department.

It’s only really made to head out fast in an open area and it isn’t an adept trail bike.

Delfast Top 3.0i

2/5
Delfast Top 3.0i

Good for – Speed

Price – $5,999

Top speed – 80km/h

Peaks:👍

Troughs:👎

Summary:

The Delfast Top 3.0i is a lower budget, huge range, fast-moving e-bike, which has some impressive electrical stats, but it’s an ugly bike and certainly isn’t one for trail riding.

With features that make it look more akin to a moped, it would look incredibly out of place among the trees and simply wouldn’t cope.

Weight/Frame

One huge negative is the bike’s heavy weight – it comes in at 70kg, which makes it incapable of riding on anything other than an open and straight forest road.

It has a steel frame, which helps explain the high weight, and it’s a terrible looking machine.

The handling can’t take anything other than simple cornering and it’s uncomfortable to ride.

Battery

The bike does better in the battery department – thanks to a 3,456Wh custom model, which has impressive performance figures. It offers a huge range of up to 320km on pan flat terrain and in good conditions.

That differs when things get more hilly, but it’s still a magnificent top-range figure and it means you can enjoy hour after hour of riding.

To get that big range battery back up to 100% of charge it only takes 6 hours.

Motor

5000Wh QS 205 V3 motor

5000Wh QS 205 V3 motor

It’s also a pacy mover – its 5000Wh QS 205 V3 motor can punch out up to 182Nm of torque, which is an impressive top figure.

Although it has the potential to get up to around 80km/h, the weight does inhibit this at times, particularly if you’re a weightier rider.

It also feels very unnatural in its delivery.

Suspension

The Delfast has 203mm of travel in the KKK forks, with a DNM coil spring shock.

The set-up just about copes with the weight of the bike, but it isn’t one to take on any playfulness.

The bike feels labored most of the time unless you’re opening it up on a long straight road.

Wheels/Tyres

The bike comes with a pair of strong custom wheels and a very durable pair of R19 motorbike tires.

They come with a wide 2.75-inch tread, which offers a lot of traction, but they’re another weighty component, which adds to that 70kg top figure.

Brakes

The Delfrost is fitted with a custom pair of hydraulic disc brakes, which have 203mm rotors.

They are under-gunned for the bike’s weight and don’t offer anywhere near enough stopping power to deal with the demands of a 70kg machine.

Final Thoughts

We would recommend avoiding this one. It’s very heavy, looks ugly, and has a number of underperforming components.

It’s cheaper than many of the bikes in this list though, and does well in the electrical department.

Nireeka Mega 1500

4.5/5
Nireeka Mega 1500

Good for – Speed, trail riding

Price – $3,299

Top speed – 61km/h

Peaks:👍

Troughs:👎

Summary:

The Nireeka Mega 1500 is the cheapest bike on our list and it performs impressively for its price.

Offering a decent top-speed figure, sporty geometry, and an impressive range, it does more than just deserve its place in this list.

Weight/Frame

Firstly, it absolutely looks the part – it’s an incredibly sporty-looking e-MTB, which is capable of some decent off-road action thanks to its aggressive geometry.

It comes with a carbon frame, which helps keep the weight down and adds to the bike’s overall playfulness and trail capabilities.

It comes in at 30kg, which is the lightest bike in this fastest electric bike list.

Battery

The bike comes with an 840Wh custom battery, which despite its size, is compact and doesn’t load an unnecessary amount of weight onto the bike.

It has an impressive range of 83km and it operates intelligently, releasing its power conservatively.

It’s a real achievement by Nireeka to create that balance between weight and battery range, particularly when you factor in the motor too.

Motor

Bafang Ultra

It comes with a custom 1,500Wh motor, which gives the bike its name.

It can emit a powerful 200Nm of torque, allowing the bike to absolutely fly, particularly when you factor in the reasonably low weight for a bike of this caliber.

Not only does it get up to speed quickly, but the top speed figure is also impressive, at 61km/h.

Suspension

The bike is nicely balanced in the suspension department offering 140mm of travel at both the front and the rear.

It has a custom set-up, which offers enough give to take on some lumpy terrain, while also retaining enough traction to hit those impressive top speed figures.

It’s an excellent pairing overall, which helps keep the bike playful and capable of some twisty trails.

Wheels/Tyres

It comes with the company’s own fat tire set-up, which makes the bike multi-terrain.

The wheels are also made of a durable alloy compound, which can take the strain of the high speeds and ferocious riding the bike is capable of.

This set-up, combined with the suspension, helps make the bike very versatile.

Brakes

The Mega 1500 comes with a pair of Blubrake hydraulic anti-locking brakes.

This ensures you don’t get thrown off like a bucking bronco, but it does mean that there can be a little bit of slipping out on the corners.

Final Thoughts

We’re very impressed with this bike and you get some excellent components for a bargain price.

The bike hits some great electrical top figures, without compensating on weight or playfulness.

It’s a very well-rounded package.

R22 Everest

3.5/5
R22 Everest

Good for – Speed, trail riding

Price – $18,900

Top speed – 57km/h

Peaks:👍

Troughs:👎

Summary:

The R22 Everest is a super playful full-suspension e-MTB, which also offers decent electrical performance figures.

However, it’s very expensive and doesn’t hit anywhere near the same top speeds as some of the leading bikes in this review list.

Weight/Frame

The R22 Everest has a fully carbon frame and an aggressive geometry, which is targeted at trail riding.

However, its weight does limit its capabilities in both those areas.

The bike weighs in at 42kg, which reduces the maneuverability and although it looks geared up for war, it doesn’t quite achieve those standards.

Battery

It comes with a custom, dual battery set-up, which is where the extra weight comes from.

The single battery top wattage is 1,630Wh, however, with the double on there you have up to 3,260Wh.

The company claims if you’re using the assistance at around 24 km/h that will give you a whopping range of more than 460km.

Now we never got close to that figure, so we do question it a lot, but we did get up to around 190km, using varying levels of assistance, with plenty still left in the tank.

Motor

Optibike PowerStorm

Optibike PowerStorm

The bike comes with Optibike PowerStorm battery, which can kick out up to 190Nm of torque.

A powerful punch, which helps the bike cope quite well with steep inclines, and you can hit a top speed of around 57km/h.

Although admirable, the bike doesn’t achieve the kind of speed that the fastest electric bikes hit.

Suspension

Fox DHX Coil Spring Shock

The R22 Everest comes with 200mm of travel at both the front and the rear.

It’s fitted with Dual Crown suspension forks and a FOX DHX Coil Spring shock, which offer a very comfortable cushioning out on the trails.

The bike can cope with some seriously rough terrain and it’s well suited to big impacts.

Wheels/Tyres

It’s fitted with a pair of Velocity Dually wheels and a pair of custom all-terrain tires.

They come with a 2.75 inch tread, which gives you a very strong placement on the trails and the bike is capable of heading out in all weather conditions as a result.

Brakes

The R2 Everest is fitted with the company’s own downhill 4 piston, hydraulic disc brakes.

They work incredibly hard and bring this powerful e-MTB to a stop without falter.

They are brakes fit for trail riding and fill you with confidence when out riding.

Final Thoughts

The R2 Everest is a mixed bag – it offers some excellent features, including the suspension, range and brakes.

However, the price is eyewatering and the top speed is nowhere near the leaders in the pack.

If you want a big range e-MTB, with full send capabilities, and have loads of cash to spend – then this is a good option.

Overall Final Thoughts

We hope you enjoyed our guide to the fastest electric bikes in the world.

There are some extremely speedy e-bikes out there these days and things are advancing at a pace – with the weight coming down, the motors becoming more powerful, and the overall ride experience improving.

However, it’s a delicate balancing act and it can be very difficult for manufacturers to achieve those world-leading speeds, without compensating in one department or another.

The fastest electric bike at the moment is the Hi Power Cycles Revolution XX – with a whopping top speed of 120km/h.

It’s the fastest ever produced, but there are plenty of companies snapping at HPC’s heels to break that record.

Watch this space to how this battle develops, but in the meantime – get out there and fly on one of these speed machines.
