Savusavu Town recorded more than 200 yachts arriving so far this year.

Savusavu Chambers of Commerce President, Ravi Chhaganlal, said yacht tourism was slowly recovering.

“During COVID period, we had less than 60 yachts berthing in Savusavu, now we have seen an increase in numbers which shows that our tourism sector is back on track.”

Resorts are at its 80 per cent capacity and are fully operational, he says.

Added that businesses were picking up in Savusavu and better days were coming.

Nawi Island

Mr Chhaganlal said the Nawi Island project would boost Savusavu’s economy providing opportunities for both businesses and the community.

“A lot of construction is happening in Nawi and it will provide jobs.”

Apart from Nawi, Mr Chhaganlal said there were other projects in the pipeline and would be announced once confirmed by relevant authorities.

Sporting Activities:

Mr Chhaganlal said they were expecting more people in town this weekend for the Savusavu 7’s tournament.

Sporting activities as such, he says, would boost the business activities in town.

“We need more of these activities here.”
