In this article, we provide a list of the most expensive bikes ever made. These bikes are costly because they are adorned with precious materials and were made for a special occasion. They fetched high prices at auctions which is why they find a place in this list of most expensive bikes. Now, let’s get down to action and elaborate the list:

#10 Phanuel Krencker’s ‘Bicyclettes de Luxe’: $34,425

Besides carbon fiber and chrome, the bike includes custom parts and a frame made by Cyfac. The cycle has a shiny, reflective appearance thanks to chrome paint and mirror-polished parts. Tr!ckstuff supplied the rear and front disc brakes, making this attractive bike an amalgamation of creative design and outstanding parts.

#9 Litespeed Blade: $40,788

This innovative bike offers unmatched stoutness and quality. It provides an amazing cycling experience with its well-shaped head tubes that reduce aero drag and enhance performance, massive tube, and knife-edged backbone. This bike is the result of collaboration between Litespeed and Merlin in the late 1980’s. Renowned European bike brands such as Eddy Merckx have marketed this bicycle.

#8 eRockit’s Electric Assist Bicycle: $44,000

Another highlight is this bike’s battery that can last up to l0 years or 50,000 kilometers. This modern bicycle is ideal for wealthy bikers who do not wish to pedal all the time. Though most e-bikes retail for between $1,000 and $5,000, this one commands a hefty price tag of $44,000 because of its extra features.

This bike is correctly called a human-hybrid machine. Your pedaling effort charges the bike’s motor and battery, and the faster you pedal, the quicker you go. The vehicle has no separate handle or acceleration pedal as a motorcycle has. Its weight is 100 kilos which means you need to find a parking spot for it as you would not be able to carry it up to your apartment.

#7 Montante Luxury Gold Collection: $46,000

This women’s bike is has an impressive design and a leather saddle, traditional dynamo, road brakes, and hand-sewn attractive python leather grips. The precious materials embedded into the bike lift up its price to a hefty $46,000.

#6 Chrome Hearts X Cervelo Mountain Bike: $60,000

This luxurious and charming cycle is worth the lavish price tag because of its stunning design and workhorse efficiency. Its highlights include CH motif plugs, a silver cross, leather seat, and artwork finish. Cervelo is a renowned maker of racing bikes and they have collaborated with American luxury motorcycle accessories brand Chrome Hearts to dish out this beauty. It resembles a mash-up of a Harley Davidson and a time trial bike. This bike is based on Cervelo’s P4 TT that usually retails for about $6,000. But this special edition commands $60,000 for its numerous costly accoutrements.

#5 Trek Madone 7 – Diamond: $75,000

This bike was auctioned at the annual Lance Armstrong Foundation Gala in New York in 2005 and went for $75,000. The astronomical price is because of its precious embellishments such as a Diamond 7 emblem set in a spoke pattern with stunning diamonds. Plus, there is a Diamond 7 plaque in 14-carat yellow and white gold studded with seven one-carat yellow Gemesis diamonds.

#4 Auramania Crystal Edition Gold Bike: $114,000

French company Auramania came up with this beauty that goes for a commanding $114,000 thanks to its gold-plated frame, wheels, and spokes, and the Swarovski crystals. The grips and saddles are made of high-quality leather and a leather badge at the front of the bicycle displays the limited-edition number. Auramania also sells a crystal- and gold-adorned wall rack for more than $6,000.

#3 Kaws – Trek Madone: $160,000

This bike fetched a handsome $160,000 at an auction. This shows that any bicycle associated with Lance Armstrong gets a fortune. The bike features Kaws’ signature “chomper” teeth design on its frame and wheel rims. It also boasts splendid aerodynamics, stunning accessories, and loads high. Now, you know why it is worth the astronomical price tag.

#2 Trek Yoshimoto Nara: $200,000

This bike sold for $200,000 at a Sotheby’s auction. Yoshmito Nara embellished it with a cartoon theme of kids in boxing gloves, flying UFOs, and a Livestrong logo. This bicycle was ridden by Lance Armstrong in the 18th stage of one of the Tour de France races. In the same Sotheby’s charity auction, Trek sold other bikes for about $800,000. These vehicles were designed by famous artists and based on the bikes ridden by Armstrong in top cycling events.

#1 Trek Butterfly Madone: $500,000

Damien Hirst placed the real butterfly wings on the bike’s concrete frame and rim. This bicycle was used by Lance Armstrong in the 2009 Tour de France race. It fetched an amazing $500,000 at a Sotheby’s cancer benefit charity auction, making it top of the pops in our list of most expensive bikes. However, the use of butterfly wings attracted the wrath of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) which termed it a “horrific barbarity.”

I wonder how much is that Kaws Trek Madone now after all those Lance Armstrong's scandal? Which incidentally is not that sinister as the media made it to appear. Apparently, he was taking his own red-blood components, not any synthetic drugs, to optimize his circulation and increase endurance. I don't know how that differs from taking vitamins or healthy food.

I would not buy a bicycle like that to expensive!

In reply to Rodnick's comment, Big Jeff Smith says:

But WHY should natural products of your system, including your own blood be illegal? Just because some unelected international bureaucracy says so? Where are arbitrary "rilongs" limited to?

Yes, there have to be strong controls of drugs and substances which never occur in nature, but why can't these events ALSO be a basic for advancements in some areas in health sciences?
