Mr Bean has been an integral part of everyone’s childhood. Remember those days when you sat in front of the television and waited for Rowan Atkinson to make you laugh with his antics?

The iconic green car used in the show is another integral part of the show. It added to the comic side of the character in a manner. The green Mini and the blue Reliant Regal he used to topple over every time.

The first and possibly the most identical car around is the 1977 Leyland Mini 1000 Mark IV. The green car in which Mr Bean used to roam around the streets of London doing some funny things all around the city.

The car was an important part of the series. It was considered a character rather than just an object. Some of the most iconic antics from the show included Mr Bean strapping a sofa on the car’s roof and driving around the city. The show had a scene in which the character is getting ready in the car while going to work.

All these aspects made the cars an important and inclusive part of the show.

About the car

The car which was imminent enough in the series was launched in the year 1977. The British Leyland Mini 1000 Mark IV was manufactured in Great Britain at Mini’s plant. The car was produced in the country and became quite a rage after getting featured in the show.

Larger floor space for luggage and passenger made the car a practical choice for many. It went on to become a design platform for future cars from Mini.

The 1-litre petrol engine of the car churned out a mere 35 bhp and had a displacement of 998 cc. Mini 1000 generated 70 Nm of torque and clocked 0 to 100 kmph in 17.8 seconds. and had a top speed of 130 kmph and was a front-wheel-drive (FWD)

The car had a length of 3054 mm and a width of 1410 mm and stood at a height of 1346 mm. The car was sold as a 2-door sedan body type in Great Britain.

Do you remember the little small car from the show? The one which got toppled over again and again by Mr Bean? Well, turns out the toppling over was a real-world problem for the car. Reliant Regal was built by Reliant Motors as a three-wheeled car. The car was a successor to the Reliant Regent.

In the show, the Reliant Regal has suffered a lot. It was at times tipped over, sometimes crashed into and many a time was bumped out of its parking space.

The car was a three-wheeled lightweight (355 kg) car which made it popular. Reliant Regal under the United Kingdom motor laws was considered a tricycle and could be driven on a motorcycle license. This car became a rage due to its bike-like specs and car-like characteristics.

About the car

The car was powered by a 701 cc engine generating 30 bhp. Reliant’s small engine generated a 65.71 Nm of torque. Fibreglass was used to make the body and the chassis of the car. This was done to reduce the weight of the vehicle. The reduced weight and a small engine made the car one of the most economical ones in Great Britain.

The Reliant Robin had a length of 3429 mm, and a width of 1486 mm which made it as small and compact as possible. It had a top speed of 104 kmph and clocked 0 to 100 in 30 seconds.
