NEW: Hublot Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow Limited Edition

I’m sure you remember the unexpected randomness that was the first collaboration between Hublot and prolific artist Takashi Murakami – the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black.

Now, they have a second limited edition to add to the series – the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow.

The design is the same, of course, but this time it’s the opposite to the first one, with transparency the key. Given Hublot’s history with sapphire cases of both transparent and coloured forms, this is a natural progression.

For this latest iteration, the 45mm (14.05mm thick) case is accompanied by twelve rotating petals around the face that are with 384 gemstones – rubies, pink sapphires, amethysts, blue sapphires, tsavorites, yellow and orange sapphires, the colourful contrast with the first model is more in line with Takashi Murakami’s best-selling design. The dial is micro-blasted and rhodium-plated.

Powering the flower, and visible through the open case back, is the same automatic Calibre HUB214 as in the All Black version. It beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 72 hours. The case back also has “LIMITED EDITION”, the limitation xxx/100, and “©TM/KK” engraved into the sapphire.

Coming on a transparent lined rubber strap with a stainless steel deployant clasp, the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow is available in a limited edition of 100 numbered pieces with a price of AUD 147,000/ CHF 100, 000/ EUR 104,000.

So – what will come next from this collaboration?
