Our logo is meant to be a catalyst of imagination by provoking questions such as: What’s with the horse? Hippodrome is a Greek work meaning “horse” “race.” In ancient times, people gathered in hippodromes to watch chariot races. So we represent that heritage with a classic, almost iconic, silhouetted image of a gracefully trotting horse. Then we added two extra legs. This six-legged horse, which usually takes a second glance to notice, represents our mission to alter the norm and incite questions and discussion. It also refers to the six founders of our theatre.

Our name is purposely obscuring the main body of the horse. It’s a thought-provoking moment, prompting our viewer to use their imagination and complete the picture.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR’S NOTE

Hello Everyone! We are back and are thrilled to be stepping back into LIVE performance with you. Theater is such a communal experience, and while our team has continued our storytelling craft through the medium of film, we have missed the give and take of collaborating together in the same space. And even more importantly, we have felt the emptiness of this building without you, our community, participating in this ancient ritual of connection and transformation with us. Our communal gatherings will feel different now after everything we have all gone through over the past year, but that in and of itself is exciting. The way you get your tickets will be different, the way we seat you will be different, even the way we rehearse isn’t exactly the same. But that is OK. Because as of today, we get to be together again. And we will all find the way to our brand new normal together. So welcome home everyone. And enjoy the show!
