Carol is a 2015 Oscar-nominated flick starring Cate Blanchett as the titular and nichely iconic character Carol. Carolling, of course, is the act of singing Christmas carols. You see where this is going, right?

Despite never having seen the movie (sorry fellow gays, don’t hate me!), I did once tweet a meme joke about it, which I assume is what led the official Twitter account for Netflix Film to slide into my DMs overnight to inform me of an exciting new bit of Carol/Carolling related content.

carol carols DMI don’t get these references but thanks?

Yep, it’s a bunch of carolers dressed as Carol and her secret lesbian lover Therese singing carols about the plot of Carol. Groundbreaking? No. Kinda fun? Sure!

Again, I haven’t seen Carol, with my only understanding of it pieced together from the various glove-related memes and parodies that fell across my timeline when it was at the fore of the pop culture zeitgeist. Thus, I make zero claims to be the arbiter of Carol content quality.

To be completely honest, my interest in and entire comprehension of Carol almost entirely stems from this phenomenal sketch by Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani for the 2016 Spirit Awards. I do not need to see the movie, when I have this amazing video to watch again and again for all of eternity.

Maybe this pun-based bit of video content will bring you joy and merriment as we eke out the final working days of the year. Maybe you’ll hate it, who knows!

Somewhat ironically, Carol is available to stream in Australia right now, on Stan of all places. So, cheers Netflix for the heads up via a weirdly personal Twitter DM for a plug about a movie I haven’t seen and which is exclusively available on your main local competitor. Good shit.
