Entertainment distributor Abbey Home Media has snagged the UK home entertainment rights for Snapper Productions’ animated preschool series Q Pootle 5.

Abbey’s first Q Pootle 5 release, Pootle The Explorer, will launch on April 11, featuring seven episodes of the British Animation Award-nominated series.

Based on the bestselling books by children’s author/illustrator Nick Butterworth, Q Pootle 5 follows the everyday adventures of a little green alien and his friends on their home planet Okidoki.

Abbey joins a growing list of licensees for the property in the UK which includes Walker Books (global TV tie-in publishing); Immediate Media (CBeebies Weekly and Toybox magazines); Egmont (standalone magazines); Jumbo (games and puzzles); VMC (accessories); C&M Licensing (nightwear, underwear, socks and onesies) and Rainbow Productions (costumes).

Since launching in 2013 on CBeebies, the series has been sold into more than 70 countries worldwide to broadcasters including KiKA (Germany), ABC (Australia), NRK (Norway) and TG4 (Ireland).

Q Pootle 5 is animated by London-based Blue Zoo and distributed internationally by ZDF Enterprises.
