Iconic death metal pillars Cannibal Corpse continue to defy time as the band's brand of live devastation only seems to find a new plateau with each release.
Currently trekking in support of their landmark sixteenth studio album, Chaos Horrific, the Floridian legends have positioned themselves in a place where their stock has seemingly never been more valuable.
Resonating with longtime fans that are steeped in lore of the band, while reaching a new generation of converts freshly introduced to the metallic onslaught, the result is a convergence of diehards that have turned out to every show on the tour in droves.
Showcasing searing new slabs of savagery from Chaos Horrific, cuts like "Blood Blind", "Summoned for Sacrifice" and the album's title track seamlessly worked their way into a set list of catalog essentials.
Spanning the band's vast discography, selections from 90's era albums like Vile and Bloodthirst meshed with 2000's era staples like Gore Obsessed, Kill and Evisceration Plague - reiterating the kind of unique longevity that few bands like Cannibal Corpse maintain.
Among the band's most convincing submissions however, were among their most enduring. Early 90's essentials like "I Cum Blood" and "Stripped Raped and Strangled" primed the fans for the finale of all finales.
Closing the night with arguably death metal's durable anthem, Cannibal Corpse lay waste to San Diego with a rendition of "Hammer Smashed Face" that offered testament to just why the band remains such a force to be reckoned with.
