Abstract
Achilles tendinopathy is a clinical syndrome characterized by a combination of pain, swelling, morning stiffness, and difficulty with physical activity. This is a common overuse injury in sports that include running and jumping. The recovery from Achilles tendinopathy can take between 3 and 12 months. Athletes are susceptible to reinjury in the return to sports phase, which is probably due to the high loads placed on the tendon during sports and the fact that being asymptomatic does not necessarily mean the Achilles tendon and lower leg function is fully recovered.
