This is where shit gets real. I’m about to admit that there are a few classic DeNiro movies I haven’t seen. Lock me in a box and throw away the key. But how could I not do DeNiro? I mean, I’ve seen most of his big movies. I have a really good understanding of who DeNiro is as an actor. I mean, yes, I haven’t seen Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, or Cape Fear, but I’ve seen 39 films with Robert DeNiro in it. That’s a lot. I think the first film I saw him in, oddly enough, was Mad Dog and Glory that I remember watching on video because my mom wanted to see it. It was probably the first thing he made that I could actually see as a kid. I think the second film might have been The Fan, but I’m not sure. I’ve been trying to do my catch up work on his career.

BEST PERFORMANCE:
I mean, can you choose just one DeNiro performance? I haven’t even seen all of his performances, and I have a hard time choosing between Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Heat, and his comic performance in Analyze This. Analyze This is probably the best use of him in a comedy, though he’s good in Meet The Parents and Silver Linings Playbook. I think probably Raging Bull is his strongest.

MOST ICONIC PERFORMANCE
To a younger generation uneducated in film, he might just be known from Meet The Parents, but hopefully to everyone else, he’s known from either The Godfather pt 2 or Raging Bull, or even Taxi Driver.

MOST UNDERRATED PERFORMANCE
I’m going to nominate Copland, Wag The Dog, and Everybody’s Fine here.

BEST PERFORMANCE I’VE HEARD WAS GOOD AND HAVEN’T SEEN
Again, the aforementioned trio of Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, and Cape Fear, all of which I feel like I still need to see.

WORST PERFORMANCE
Is there any other choice other than The Adventures Of Rocky and Bullwinkle? I mean, even weak films like City By The Sea and Godsend really do look better when paired against Rocky and Bullwinkle. It is just so out of character for DeNiro. And it’s really the only time I can honestly say, not even he was good in the film. At least he was good in City By The Sea and Godsend, but the movies were awful. Here, both the movie, and he, weren’t any good.
