Another day, another beautiful Torres Strait island (or two)

Members from Thursday Island policing division continue to provide support to the outer island communities, recently visiting Darnley Island (Erub) and Coconut Island (Poruma).

Officer in charge of Thursday Island division, Senior Sergeant Allison Williams and Thursday Island Cross-Cultural Liaison Officer, Sergeant Jade Taylor visited the two islands where they checked in with Torres Strait Island Police Support Officers (TSIPSO) Akasha Stephen from Darnley Island and George Sam from Coconut Island as well as local community members.

These regular visits are invaluable to the Torres Strait Island communities as they provide face to face engagement with local police and as COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease, it is important to ensure our communities are kept informed of the ever-changing environment.

Whilst there, the officers took the opportunity to soak in some of the beautiful scenery. How lucky we are to live and work in this beautiful part of the world??
