Wineglass Bay Walk

When you hear that a beach has been voted as one of the 10 most beautiful in the world, then you want to do it right and see it right. Boasting a range of easily accessible walking tracks including the short walk to the renowned Wineglass Bay Lookout and half or full day walks to Wineglass Bay beach, Mt Amos and Hazards Beach. Perfect to soak up the views only to dip your toes in its crystalline waters. The Freycinet & Wineglass Bay Walk is the perfect match taking you to all these glorified locations. Wineglass Bay Lookout

  • Time: 1.5 hours return,  2.6 km (1.6 miles) return
  • Grade: Easy to moderate, many steps and short steep hill sections
  • Start: Wineglass Bay Carpark

 

Walk to one of Tasmania’s most celebrated views- the crystal clear waters and curvaceous white beach of Wineglass Bay from above. Any picture you stumble across Tasmania will undoubtedly see an image of Wineglass Bay taken from this iconic lookout. A beautifully constructed track takes you through coastal woodland, past striking granite boulders and reaches the lookout. A moment in time that will reward you with the most breathtaking view, you have to see it to believe it. You’ll know you are somewhere quite special! For the fortunate souls, a sight of a migrating whale or dolphins is best seen here. Return via the same way but with a different point of view. This walk is best done early morning and afternoon to avoid busy midday crowds.

 

 

Wineglass Bay Beach

  • Grade: Moderate, many steps and short steep hill sections
  • Start: Wineglass Bay Carpark

 

Find out what’s beyond the Wineglass Bay Lookout on this extended Wineglass Bay to Hazards Beach circuit. A fuller and more challenging taste of beautiful Freycinet National Park makes for an excellent half day trek. Continue on from Wineglass Bay Lookout down to the picturesque and perfectly curved beach traversing the pink granite legends of the Hazards Range. Take in sweeping views of the pristine Great Oyster Bay and the coastline surrounding the sleepy seaside village of Swansea. From one paradise to another, traverse the wide isthmus to the long sandy stretch of Hazards Beach before walking the coastal woodland and back to the starting point. With ample opportunity for idyllic picnic spots, make sure you pack plenty of snacks as there is no better way to do a picnic with a view!

Before You Go

A valid park pass is required for entry to Freycinet National Park. This can be purchased beforehand online or on the day at the Freycinet Visitor Centre located within the main entrance to the park. The cost varies from a range of pass options to best meet your needs.
