‘Spencer’ star Kristen Stewart puts a sexy spin on Diana’s style in Venice

Kristen Stewart arrived at the Venice Film Festival on Friday to promote the Princess Diana biopic “Spencer,” dressed in a look that seemed to take cues from her regal role — from the waist up, anyway.

The actress posed for photos and spoke with press wearing an ultra-short Chanel romper modeled after the fashion house’s signature gold-buttoned, chain-trimmed tweed jackets.

Stewart, 31, played up the leggy look with a pair of pearl-accented pumps.

The “Twilight” star has been a Chanel ambassador since 2013, and is frequently spotted in the brand’s campaigns and front rows.

The late Lady Di, meanwhile, was famously a fan of the French luxury label herself — until her 1996 divorce from Prince Charles, that is.

In a viral 2018 interview with Harper’s Bazaar Australia, Aussie designer Jayson Brundson, who helped style Diana for her 1996 visit to the country, revealed how the brand’s logo reminded the royal of her ex-husband’s affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.

“I found a pair of Chanel shoes, and I said, ‘Well these would look great with the Versace,’ and she said ‘No, I can’t wear linked Cs, the double C.’ So I asked why, and she said, ‘It’s Camilla and Charles,'” Brundson recalled.

“It was definitely the timing, it being post-divorce,” he added. “She would have seen linked Cs and they would have just reminded her of Charles and Camilla. The shoes were quite boldly Chanel, I think they had gold linked Cs on them.”

Fortunately, Diana’s refusal to don Chanel didn’t stick. Following her split from Charles, the Princess of Wales wore a number of memorable looks from the label, including a bold red coat for a 1988 visit to France and the iconic powder blue suit she chose for Prince William’s confirmation in 1997.
