As a young girl drawn to the ocean it was only natural that I would choose to spend most of my time here swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving and enjoying the warm sun.
Catherine Hill Bay Beach is located on the east coast of Australia. It is named after the Catherine Hill ship that ran aground during heavy seas in 1867.
Catherine Hill Bay Beach is part of an old coal mining town. This beach is well know for its long Jetty which is often photographed and a popular spot for wedding or maternity photos. The jetty was used when the mine was in operation. This has since been closed off to the public but every so often you get a few thrill seekers who climb the harsh barb wire to jump off the jetty into the ocean
To the right of the jetty scattered along the sea bed is the remains of an old steam ship, part of the old steam engine lies not far from the shore and homes an abundance of sea life.
In 2013 a fire tore through the area taking with it a portion of the jetty.
These photos were taken over a number of years. I hope you enjoy them!
