Scout (Jean Louise) Finch: Scout Finch is the main character in To Kill A Mockingbird. Scout is seven at the begining of the book and eight at the end of it. Scout is Jems sister and the daughter of Atticus. Scout isn't the average girl of the 1930's. She walks around in overalls, plays in dirt and fights. She's very curious and is in a constant struggle to grow up. She loves her father so much, that she decided to keep going to school just so he'd read to her.
At school, Scout read out loud for Mrs Caroline, and she wasn't supposed to be reading yet. Mrs Caroline yelled at her and said that her father was teaching her wrong and she can't read until she teaches her. That makes Scout dislike school and she asks Atticus if she can stay home. Atticus tells her that if she goes to school, that he will read to her. Atticus is trying to tell her that education is important, she doesn't realize it yet. Throughout the book, Scout is always wearing overalls. She never wear dresses or really anything else girly because thats just not her style. Scout is the definition of a "tom-boy." When Aunt Alexandria comes to live with Atticus to teach Scout to be a lady she wants nothing to with it. No matter how hard she resists Aunt Alexandria, she keeps on trying to make Scout more like a lady. Eventually she gets Scout to wear a dress but she wiil always be a "tom-boy" at heart. |

For Scout, I chose "Never Grow Up" By Taylor Swift. During the whole book, Scout struggles with the idea of wanting to grow up and understanding what life is about. When she's faced with situations, she usually never does the right one and ends up with concequences. She judged Boo Radly without even thinking about life in his shoes and was scared of him during most of the book. By the end of the book she has learned more about life.
