At last, we’ll get to put a face to “The Benefactor.”

British actor John Simm (“Doctor Who,” “Life on Mars”) has joined the cast of ABC‘s cat-and-mouse thriller “The Catch,” Variety has confirmed exclusively.

He’ll play the mysterious benefactor behind Ben/Christopher (Peter Krause) and Margot (Sonya Walger), who’s been footing the bill for their elaborate financial cons. As the leader of the organization they work for, they’re deeply in debt to him, and he’s coming to collect.

“He’s one of my all-time favorite actors,” showrunner and executive producer Allan Heinberg told Variety. “I’ve wanted to work with him my whole professional life, and I could not be more grateful for that. We’re getting a great guest cast.”

Simm, who played the Master on “Doctor Who” alongside David Tennant, will be introduced in episode six and will appear through the back half of the 10-episode first season of “The Catch.”

The latest entry in ABC’s Shondaland TGIT lineup, “The Catch” also stars Mireille Enos as private investigator Alice Vaughan, who’s in pursuit of Ben, her former fiance. The drama debuted on March 24 to modest ratings of 5.8 million viewers. Its two-hour finale will air on May 19.
