Spring Awakening Lensed by Solve Sundsbo

Darkness before dawn. Is 2021 the year of fashion redemption?

After a long and dreary 2020, to open 2021, designers capture the drama, the vibrancy, and the grandiosity that defines the artistry of fashion. Lensed by the Norway-born, London-based photographer and filmmaker, Solve Sundsbo and styled by V’s Fashion Director, Gro Curtis, the duo opted for a high-note in 2021. “It’s about drama and optimism of fashion, it shows how resilient designers are in these turbulent times,” says Curtis. “Protection comes in many forms. It can be literally Paco Rabbane armour dress or Kenzo beekeeper-chic hat that’s actually a dress.”

As model, Jean Campbell dallies in the latest of Spring/Summer 2021, Curtis longs for the new year’s raw potential for creative redemption. “Beauty lies in many characters woman can use to her advantage. She can be innocent but playful in Simone Rocha, strong and seductive in Giorgio Armani, etheric in Dior, romantic in Erdem, or simply strange and avant-garde in Rick Owens. They say it’s darkest just before the dawn. I do believe this issue and this story is our dawn after almost a year in the dark.”
