SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) — Another exciting addition was brought into the world at the Potawatomi Zoo!
The zoo announced the birth of a Sichuan Takin on Saturday and shared images of the baby exploring its new world.
In their Facebook post, the Potawatomi Zoo said Sichuan Takin babies are able to stand and nurse within an hour or two of being born, just like many other hoofed animals.
According to the zoo, Sichuan Takins are a rare species of animal that is part of a family of animals known as "goat antelopes."
