Darwin is the lightning capital of Australia, and every year Territorians have close encounters with bolts from the heavens which could strike them dead.

If you're caught off guard and away from the safety of home, would you know how to protect yourself during an electrical storm?

'The Lightning Man' Grant Kirkby is a lightning expert and risk mitigation technologist.  He spoke to the ABC's Jo Laverty about how to stay safe if you get caught in an electrical storm.
