Evolution of the Corner to Convenience Store(ABC Gold Coast: Cathy Border)

Old corner shops of our childhood seem to have disappeared and replaced by franchise convenience stores and petrol station servos. Nightlife looks at how convenience stores have evolved from the friendly face behind the counter that offered up everything from a milkshake to a bag of lollies, and what the future of the local store looks like. Are they still an integral part of our local community?

Hazem Sedda, Owner of Redfern Convenience store, Theo Foukkare, CEO of the Australian Association of Convenience Stores and Hollie Fox, Site Operator of Fox’s Pantry, on the Gold Coast joined Philip Clark to discuss the economic and social forces that have brought about these changes.
