No-one wants to be struck by lightning.

But scientists are finding the long term psychological impacts of a lightning strike go well beyond that moment of fear and trauma.

Professor Chris Andrews is a world-leading expert in lightning strikes from the University of Queensland tells the ABC's Annie Gaffney lightning strikes can leave people with depression and cognitive disabilities, but they're still trying to work out exactly why.
