In this pod-only series, producer Barbara Heggen digs into the ABC's radio archives to unearth rare interviews with pioneering Australian women artists, inspired by the National Gallery of Australia's Know My Name initiative.

Rosalie Gascoigne’s affinity with nature was critical to her artistic development.

Born in New Zealand in 1917, it wasn't until she moved to the remote terrain of Mount Stromlo in NSW that she developed a passion for collecting objects, which she would transform into powerful sculptural assemblages.

Despite having no formal art training, Rosalie went on to become one of Australia’s most celebrated contemporary artists.

In 1994 the ABC’s Mary Lou Jelbart caught up with her for the program Arts Today.
