The original Coat of Arms consisted of a shield incorporating the Cross of St George, with a seven pointed star on a wreath as the crest above it. Akangaroo and an emu supported the shield and a scroll below contained the motto 'Advance Australia'. The inclusion of the kangaroo and the emu on this and the current Coat of Arms have come to represent progress, as neither animal can walk backwards. Coin bears a 'C' Mintmark on the reverse denoting minting in Canberra. Certificate of Authenticity is included with this coin numbered 6506. Mintage 12,500.
