Former Telstra boss Sol Trujillo has been thrust back into the public limelight over his hefty remuneration and intriguing business dealings, after earning millions of dollars from an American telecommunications company run by his protege.

The business associate, Sprint chief executive Marcelo Claure, is the same acquaintance Mr Trujillo controversially awarded lucrative contracts to a decade ago as Telstra chief.
