Makeup trends come and go, but tried-and-true makeup techniques are forever. And in a new makeup tutorial from Jennifer Lopez, we're treated to both her take on an-of-the-moment makeup look that's been happening lately and a couple of tips that will us all a little closer to replicating the multihyphenate's gorgeous go-to makeup methods.

J. Lo loves the latte makeup trend — she actually wore it for her birthday back in July, so you know she's a fan — but she wanted to share a fall update to the look: pumpkin spice latte makeup. “There's been a lot of talk about this latte makeup trend. I've been doing that a long time. So I want to give this a holiday twist,” she says in a video posted Tuesday, November 21. Instead of bronze-brown hues, Lopez leaned in an even warmer direction with her shade picks, and in the process, she shared a few application tips we've been eager to learn.

“Scott has taught me to kind of do like a ‘C’ right here,” Lopez says, referring to long-time makeup artist Scott Barnes. “It kind of gives you this beautiful shape to the eye.” She demonstrates the technique — going back and forth in an arch just above her eyelid crease — with what appears to be a spicy-brown shade from the Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Desert Fox. “And I would take this kind of yellowy color and I'd kind of put it on the lid,” she says, taking the palette's golden shade and applying it to her mobile lid.

But that's not the only application tip she shares. Grabbing a cinnamon-like shade of a Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil and proceeds to explain the surprisingly easy way she'll achieve the final lip look. “You do the dark on the outside and contour in, and you leave the middle open,” she says. She then uses her own JLo Beauty Beso Balm to add a glossy, moisturized yet colorless finishing touch.

With a little bit of contouring powder around her face — she calls it “toasting the edges” — and some JLo Beauty complexion-highlighting goodness, she gives us an extremely easy to duplicate makeup look that's perfect for Thanksgiving get-togethers.
