After a lifetime as a brunette, Rose Byrne is figuring out how to be a blonde. Back in October, she went from her trademark chestnut shade to a striking platinum blonde with about an inch of chocolate-colored roots. Almost eight months later, Byrne is still living her best life as a blonde — but now, she's done away with the visible roots and gone full Marilyn Monroe.
Makeup artist Hung Vanngo posted an Instagram photo of Byrne getting ready for a night out in New York City. Her soft, light-catching makeup look definitely caught our attention — and we couldn't help but notice that the photo doubles as a debut for Byrne's first full-on blonde.

Byrne's rocking a sleeker style with her color, but there might be another explanation for why her colorist took that bleach all the way up to the roots. Platinum hair is notoriously difficult to maintain (see: Kim Kardashian's infamous 13-hour root-touchup appointment). But if Byrne starts off with light roots, lets them grow in, and then embraces that as her new style, it'll buy her an extra few weeks before it's time to head back for a touch-up. It's a perfect hack for anyone without the money or time to regularly visit the colorist.
Whatever her reasons, we can all agree that Byrne looks right at home as a blonde — and we love that she's already finding ways to mix up her new shade.
