A 20th CENTURY MILLED-ALUMINUM “MACHINIST-MADE” MODEL CANNON & CARRIAGE, ca. 1960: In overall very fine, untouched condition. Of typical late 18th century style with a finely milled and precision machined, Aluminum, “Deck-gun” type carriage with four matching wheels/trucks with brass hubs and screw fastened trunion-hasps. The 7 3/4”, smoothbore, .50 caliber, finely milled, Aluminum barrel of typical late 18th century style with a flared, cannon-type, turned muzzle and body. The breech with a top-drilled touch hole and a decorative ball type cascable. The sides of the tube with two integral trunion pins. A nice example of a well-made 20th Century Machinist’s Model cannon, ca. 1960 and purported to have been constructed of surplus metal from the Receiver-blocks of M-16 Rifles. In very fine condition with bright smooth surfaces, much polish and little signs of use/wear. Overall length 8 1/2”.

A VERY FINE REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD AMERICAN SWIVEL GUN, ca. 1770s: In overall very fine untouched condition. Cast iron barrel with an integral, raised, rectangular touch-hole and several turnings at the muzzle, breech and midsection. Two lower-mounted trunions pins with its later, wrought iron, 10" swivel yolk: for attachment to a boat's side-rail. The breech with a classic, 18th century, ball-shaped, iron cascable. Heavy gauge and fine cast, Bronze/Brass, 19", 1.25 caliber, 33 1/2 lb. tube with its central side-mounted trunions, rounded breech & cascable with a pierced ball finial. Finely turned and flared Cannon form ringed Muzzle with matching golden-tone brass/bronze surfaces. The body with several decorative/reinforcing turnings, along its length and the bore with dark & untouched surfaces with evidence of firing. A VERY RARE 17TH/18TH CENTURY IRON CHAIN-SHOT CANNON BALL, ca. 1650-1750: In overall fine untouched condition with nicely oxidized, gunmetal-black-colored, iron surfaces. Of Very Rare 17th/Early 18th Century "Chain Shot" Cannonball form with its original two-piece, approx. 3", iron cannon ball: one half with three (3) raised dimples and the other half with three (3) accepting-recesses. The upper portions of the "ball" fitted with their original blacksmith made, forge-welded "ring-eyes" for attachment to the original, hand-forged, 10", wrought iron chain with seven (7) large oval links. In overall fine untouched condition with generally smooth, dark, iron surfaces, scattered discoloration, surface imperfections/pocks, pitting and evident casting flaws, etc. A Very Rare & Original 17th/18th Century Chain-Shot Cannon Ball, ca. 1650-1750. A VERY GOOD & SCARCE AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD AMERICAN POWDER-TESTER/SALUTING MORTAR, ca. 1770 (FOUND AT LAKE GEORGE, NY): In overall very good sound untouched condition and of traditional, (American) Blacksmith made, robust, tapered, cylindrical form with a tapered body, an integral reinforced base, a simple touch-hole and an approx. 1" bore. Of American Blacksmith manufacture with a slightly coarsely fashioned wrought iron body with evident hammer-marks and surface irregularities: the Reinforced base, en suite with matching wrought forged iron surfaces. Made with a simple touch-hole without powder-pan and retains nicely aged, rust-patinated, smooth, untouched surfaces. Some scattered tool/hammer marks, minor surface imperfections and expected signs of use. Overall length 5 1/2". Weight approximately 11 lbs. A MID-20th CENTURY "FILIPINO" TOURIST-TYPE SMALL-SIZE DECORATIVE BRONZE LANTAKA, ca. 1950: In overall very good condition with generally smooth, bronze surfaces. Somewhat coarsely cast, light-weight Bronze/Brass barrel with an integral rear sighting plane, a raised powder-pan and decorative turnings, at the muzzle, breech and mid-section. Two (2) side-mounted trunions pins and a turned, bulbous breech with a solid cylindrical cabascle/handle. Flared muzzle with a decoratively turned mouth with a .56 caliber bore (pitted bore). Of Very Rare 17th/Early 18th Century Small-Size Mortar-type, Cannonball/Hand-Grenade form with a central hollow/void for a powder-charge and a hole for its (wooden) fuse/sabot. A FINE & RARE AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD (ENGLISH/FRENCH) IRON NAVAL-TYPE CANNON, ca. 1750: In overall fine+ untouched condition with deeply toned, smooth, iron surfaces, sharp markings and fine contours. Of likely English or French manufacture, as of very good quality and made with a sharp attention to balance & detail. Marked on its underside, with an illegible Founder's Mark and also, marked with a large "VIII" (Gun Number?) marking, forward of the touch-hole. Of Classic early 18th Century form and made with low-mounted trunion-pins, an integral rectangular powder-pan and numerous turnings at the muzzle, the breech and midsection. The breech with its rounded-ball-shaped cascable; and the muzzle with a flared Cannon-form mouth and a 1.00+ caliber bore. In overall fine+ untouched condition with smooth iron surfaces, light scattered casting-pocks, patches of discoloration and deeply toned age patina. A SCARCE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR ARTILLERY-PIECE/CANNON'S TAR/GREASE BUCKET, ca. 1861: In overall fine+ untouched condition with nicely oxidized smooth iron surfaces and much (85%+) of its black oil paint finish. Of Regulation Civil War Period, Union, Artillery design with a ringed body with riveted base-caps: the upper cap with its rivet-hinge lid-top with matching, black-painted surfaces. Smooth sidewalls with dark steel surfaces, en suite.  The interior with untouched, lightly rust-toned, smooth, steel surfaces with traces of tar, on its base.  In overall fine+ untouched condition with choice steel surfaces with some expected oxidation, light handling marks, stains and signs of use/wear. A fine example of an American Civil War Period Artillery Piece's/Cannon's Tar/Grease Bucket, ca. 1861. ***The type of heavy iron bucket which would have been affixed to the Carriage of a Cannon, etc. and used in the field to lubrication/waterproofing. A VERY GOOD 19th CENTURY FILIPINO-MADE “VOC” MARKED SMALL-SIZE DECK-GUN/SWIVEL GUN w/ BRONZE CARRIAGE, ca. 1850: In overall very good untouched condition with deeply patinated, generally smooth, dark-toned, bronze surfaces. Somewhat coarsely cast, native Filipino-made, light-weight Bronze/Brass barrel with an integral rear sighting plane, a raised circular touch-hole/powder-pan and decorative turnings, at the muzzle, breech and mid-section. Additionally, cast with a raised, intertwined “VOC” marking for the famed “Dutch East India Co.”. Two (2) side-mounted trunions pins and a turned, bulbous breech with a solid cylindrical cabascle/handle. Flared, octagonal muzzle with a decoratively turned and embossed mouth, an integral fore-sight and a .60 caliber bore (pitted bore). In overall very good untouched condition with a deeply toned, brown-mustard age patina and patches of surface-oxidation throughout. Overall length 12 1/4". Mounted on its matching cast bronze carriage with toned surfaces, some patches of oxidation/verdigris and cast Bronze wheels and axels. A VERY RARE & ORIGINAL 17th/18th CENTURY LARGE SIZE "SLAVE ERA" BALL & CHAIN w/ LEG IRONS, ca. 1650-1770: Of likely American or European manufacture and of fine quality blacksmith make. Heavy, wrought-forged, 14 1/2", securing-chain made of forge-welded, oval and round rings/links: the end link with its large oval securing ring, for attachment to its original leg-shackle with turn-screw lock & key. The lock with its correct key, though appears to be slightly out of timing, as it will not open the hasp. Retains untouched and richly patinated iron surfaces with expected patches of discoloration and signs of use. Complete with its original, large-size, hand fashioned and heavy (approx. 20 lb.) Stone (Limestone) Ball with a large forged loop and leaded base-plug. In overall fine untouched condition and is complete with its original Ball, Leg-shackle, Chain and Lock and key. Retains generally smooth deeply tone iron surfaces with a dark age patination and evidence of use and wear. Overall length 33". Weight, approximately 25 lb. A very Rare Authentic example of a likely American made "Slave Era" Ball & Chain, dating to the height of the African Slave Trade Era, ca. 1650-1770. ***The type of historical antique rarely seen outside of Museum/Institutional Collections.

A VERY GOOD LATE 17th/EARLY 18TH CENTURY AMERICAN? SMALL-SIZED IRON MORTAR, ca. 1680-1720 & WROUGHT IRON MOUNTED WOODEN FIELD-CARRIAGE: Of possible American manufacture & in overall very good condition with a roughly cast, 14 1/2”, heavy, smoothbore, . 3" bore, iron barrel of late 17th Century "Barrel-form" design with a baluster turned muzzle, mid-section and a matching breech made without a cascable. A stepped bore with an integral powder-chamber and two low-mounted trunion-pins of early design. The top of the breech with its original vent/touch-hole with evidence of use and flash-burn. Very good bore with deeply toned dark surfaces with patches of pitting, signs of use and wear. The exterior with dark-colored, blackened, iron surfaces, moderate pitting and various scattered casting pocks/flaws-- from rough sand-casting manufacture and a likely indication of Colonial American make. Mounted on a later19th/early 20th Century, Heavy, Oak Field-Carriage of 17th/18th century Mortar design. Wrought forged iron mounts, include two iron hasps for the trunions and their triangular cross-pins. Also, adorned overall with Rosehead nail-fastened, iron strapwork and with finely appointed nail-fastened wrought iron side-panels with trefoil finials. Retains dark, untouched, iron surfaces with light scattered patches of discoloration and fine pitting. Complete with its iron mounted, oak, elevating block with a rear iron tail. A very nice example of an Authentic Early 18th century (ca. 1680-1720) Small-Sized Iron Field-Mortar. Fine carriage with light oxidation and rust-stains, around the mounts/hardware. A VERY RARE "PETER THE GREAT ERA" DEMIDOFF/DEMIDOV "ARSENAL/FOUNDRY" MARKED 17TH/18TH CENTURY RUSSIAN “FOURTEEN-POUNDER” SOLID-SHOT CANNON BALL, ca. 1690: In overall very good+, smooth and untouched condition with dark-brown-colored iron surfaces. Of solid shot configuration and approx. 5 1/2" in diameter. In very good+/fine condition with light surface pitting/discoloration, minor casting imperfections and a deeply toned age patina. Marked with a deeply struck triangular Cartouche with a Cyrillic letter "D" for the Demidov/Demidoff Family Foundry/Arsenal, which was established by Nikita Demidov/Demidoff (1656-1725), who made Cannons, etc. for the Czar; and was made a "Nobleman" by "Peter the Great", in 1720. For more than Two Centuries the Demidov family Foundries continued its production of steel & manufacture of Russian Armaments etc.; and became the second most wealthy family in Czarist Russia. A VERY GOOD 17th/18th CENTURY SPANISH BRONZE "BEER MUG" SALUTING MORTAR, ca. 1680-1720: In overall very good sound untouched condition and of very nicely cast bronze with dark & untouched, deep gunmetal-toned, smooth bronze surfaces. Of likely provincial/Spanish Colonial (Filipino/S. American) manufacture with a sharp attention to overall detail. Classic "Beer Mug" form with an integrally cast "mug type" handle and a turned and flared/wide base with a pierced touch-hole and a working-period "spiked" touch-hole with an iron Rosehead Nail "spike". Slightly flared mouth with a large 2 1/4" bore. Overall length 4 1/2". Weight 12 lbs.
