Ryo-Ohki!!!

"If you ask me, there is NOTHING in anime that's cuter, more kawaii than Ryo-Ohki...well, maybe Kiyone. ^_^

It would figure we'd start off this monthly kawaii creature section with the best of the best. Ryo-Ohki, if you don't know, is from the insanely popular (and soon to continue ^_^) series, Tenchi Muyo! She happens to be a cross between a cat and a rabbit, commonly called a cabbit. Oh, and she LOVES carrots!

In the OVA series, Ryo-Ohki is the creation of Washyuu. She is born through the combination of a mineral substance with a creature called the Masu. Believe it or not, she's actually the half-sister of the infamous space pirate Ryoko! In the two TV series, this origin is modified where Ryo-Ohki is not Washyuu's creation, and is something of a "pet" to Ryoko and Sasami. Speaking of Sasami...

Ryo-Ohki and Princess Sasami are absolutely inseparable! It's pretty much a given that wherever you find one, you'll find the other! I guess it makes sense that the two cutest characters hang around each other, though.

As if Ryo-Ohki wasn't already kawaii enough, she also has the ability to transform into even cuter forms!

First, there's her most common transformation (and the only one seen in all three series), her spaceship form. While it's not "kawaii" per se, it is badass-looking...and the little "Crystal Ryo-Ohki" that help guide the pilot ARE absolutely adorable. And besides, how can you say "No" to a spaceship that can meow!?

Next, we have the strangest (and decidedly "least kawaii") of Ryo-Ohki's forms: her mech form. This is only seen in Shin Tenchi Muyo!, and Ryo-Ohki usually only does it whenever she feels threatened or Sasami is in danger.

Finally, we have saved the best for last! Ryo-Ohki's ultra kawaii, mega cute, and supaa adorable HUMAN FORM!!! Ryo-Ohki attains this form by assimilating with the Masu that escape Washyuu's lab in the OVA series. While she is originally a very attractive "catgirl" in this form, she prefers to take the form of a toddler because she's not used to bipedal walking, human speech, etc. But she learns quickly, and is absolutely irresistable while she does so!

Did I mention Ryo-Ohki loves carrots? Well she does. It's well documented in all three series that Ryo-Ohki will do absolutely ANYTHING for a carrot. In the OVA series, Tenchi is forced to make his entire garden into a carrot field simply to satisfy our favorite cabbit.

You know, if there was a list of the ten most kawaii characters in anime, Ryo-Ohki would have to be number one! She's so cute it's almost painful! Hell, she was the sole inspiration for us to create this section! For this, we name Ryo-Ohki the Gratuitous Kawaii Creature of the Month for the month of February!!!
