Ryo-Ohki is a cabbit, half cat, and half rabbit. This explains her love of carrots and meowing. Ryo-Ohki spends most of her time hanging out and playing with Sasami. She enjoys carrots, playing with Ken-Ohki (her boyfriend), and snuggling up to anyone willing. Her great love of carrots is a problem for Tenchi, who is a carrot farmer. Can you imagine a hungry cabbit attacking some poor guy’s carrot field? Luckily, Ryo-Ohki has some control over her admiration for the taste of fresh carrots. Ryo-Ohki is the most popular character in the Tenchi Muyo series. Who would’nt love a cute little snuggly cabbit?
Ryo-Ohki transforms into the space pirate Ryoko’s spaceship, which is shown above. The cabbit’s powers come from Ryoko’s gems which is the same as the power which comes from Juraian trees. Since this power is the same she is able to sneak past Juraian defense systems that prevent non-Juraian ships from entering Jurai space without getting permission to do so. When Ryoko was being controlled by the villain Kagato in the OAV, Ryo-Ohki and Ryoko lead the first and only successful attack on the Jurai.
Poor Sasami was killed during this attack on Jurai and Yosho went to earth to fight Ryoko. Ryo-Ohki has been killed many times. However, just before she dies, she lays and egg. This egg will hatch within 3-5 days and...TADA! Ryo- Ohki is reborn! Some of the times, the new generation Ryo-Ohki will evolve new abilities. The cabbit dies twice in the OAV and once on the TV series. Ryo-Ohki died after being shot down by Yosho’s ship, Funaho, and when Ryoko crashed her onto earth to destroy Ayeka’s ship. On the TV series she died in the first scene.
Ryo-Ohki was created by Washu using a simple life form called Mass and an unknown mineral element. Later in the OAV some Mass escaped from Washu’s lab and gets loose near Tenchi’s house. In order to stop the Mass Ryo-Ohki absorbed the Mass themselves. After that she could take on the form that the mass were in, that of a teenaged girl that looks a lot like Ryoko. After learning that she didn’t know how to walk as a human, she decides to learn the way humans do. She bcomes a toddler and grows up.
She draws her power from Ryoko's gems. That explains the little gem on Ryo-Ohki's forehead. The gem is what keeps Ryo-Ohki alive. It allows her to communicate with Ryoko when she has at least one gem. The gem can also emit a powerful laser which is her primary weapon in spaceship form and can be fired in cabbit form too. She can use telekinesis to make herself fly as well as other objects.
