How to Put My Computer Icon on Desktop in Windows 8

When you install Windows 8 or upgrade earlier versions of Windows to Windows 8 you must find that there is no any icon except a Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop. However, the “My Computer” is a commenly used term when using computer. Through "My Computer" we can check computer properties, access to other apps and perform other tasks. Add "My Computer" icon to desktop

It is very easy to add My computer icon on Windows 8 desktop. Just right click on your desktop and select "Pesonalize".

Now you get to the Personalization dialog. Click Change desktop icons link.

Now you reach the Desktop Icon Settings dialog. Check Computer. You also can check the others desktop icons you will commonly use. Click on Apply button.

Then the My Computer icon and some other icons will be immediately shown on the desktop. Finally click OK to close the dialog.

How to Put My Computer thumbnail on Start screen

In Windows 8 you can press Win key any time to get to start screen, on which many apps thumbnails places. So it also will be very convenient for you if add My Computer thumbnail on start screen.

Click "Libraries" icon on the taskbar. Right click on "Computer". Click Pin to Start.
