Description

Letters relating to the Second World War service of 419050 Flight Sergeant William Archibald Lynn, No. 37 Service Flight Training School and Royal Air Force Station Eshott, Royal Australian Air Force, 24 November 1943 - 12 February 1944.

Two letters from William Archibald Lynn to his cousin Lynn Dunoon of Melbourne. In these letters Lynn largely writes about training and social activities while based at No. 37 Service Flight Training School in Ottawa and Eshott Airfield in Northumberland. A student at Melbourne University prior to his enlistment with the Royal Australian Air Force in June 1942, Lynn was killed in a training accident in Northumberland when his Spitfire collided mid-air with another aircraft during a training exercise on 17 March 1944.
