Shared Experience: Russell Drysdale (1912–1981)
Art and War
Drysdale studied with the George Bell School in Melbourne between 1931 and 1938, and later in London and Paris. Exempted from war service owing to defective eyesight, he drew and painted his own record of home-front activities, principally the movement of troops through Albury railway station in Victoria and aircraft at Rose Bay in Sydney.
