Whether it's the new-fangled Orange Eagle trophy, or the old classic, #TheRivalry, BC teams have been doing their part to beat our historic rivals lately. The latest: the women's soccer team, who upset #9 Wake Forest 1-0 last night in Newton. The game winning scorer was (who else?) McKenzie Meehan. She has scored the game winner in all five of BC's wins this year (!). The Eagles are now 5-5 on the season.

No. 8 Florida State will be without a key part of its secondary on Saturday at Boston College. Junior safety Tyler Hunter left last weekend's win over Bethune-Cookman in the second half with a neck stinger and did not return. After missing practice all week, Hunter is out for Saturday.

Demko looking forward to college, prospects game (NHL.com)

Thatcher Demko is a goaltender playing his freshman season with Boston College. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder played his minor hockey in southern California before joining the U.S. National Team Development Program last season. He's excelled for the United States at the under-18 level and could earn a spot on the U.S. team for the 2014 World Junior Championship. Demko has offered to maintain a monthly blog for NHL.com that will chronicle his season leading up to the 2014 NHL Draft.

Jerry York: UCONN Coach Mike Cavanaugh An "Outstanding College Hockey Coach" (Western College Hockey Blog)

Jerry York, Cavanaugh's boss at BC, believes UCONN picked the right man for the job. "He's an outstanding college hockey coach and a first class individual," said York at the recent Hockey East Media Day. "They'll quickly rise in the ranks of college hockey," added York.
