EXCELLENT FOR BUSINESS AND PLEASURE!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works just fine even though it was an "open box" product. I did not want to buy something that someone else had returned. However, it was the only thing they had that day and I needed it in a hurry. My fear was unjustified. The product was very easy to set up and works just fine daily. I love it, except for the longish cable. It just adds to the cable mess underneath my desk. Next time, I will just get the adaptor ends, but Best Buy did not have one in stock that day. In addition, this item was on sale for about half price. Wonderful! Anyway, all is well. No complaints. Buy this accessory and enjoy! http://www.bestbuy.com/site/rocketfish-firewire-800-cable-with-6-pin-adapter/2344208.p?id=1218321952362&skuId=2344208&st=rocket%20fish&cp=6&lp=33

Does what it's meant to do!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are a Mac user, or have FireWire ports on your non-Mac computers, this is a great cable to have on hand, especially if you have computers or external hard drives with FW 400 ports. Not many non-Macs have FireWire ports. You can get PCI add-in cards for desktops, but chances are, most people using FireWire are doing so on (or to) a Mac. Primarily, I use these cables to connect older Macs to a newer Mac used for diagnostics, as Macs can boot in Target Disk Mode via FireWire (or Thunderbolt if made after mid-2011) but not USB. Older Macs have FireWire 400, as do older external HDDs. Some external drives ship with both 400 and 800 ports, though usually it's only 800. Luckily, the adapter is pretty solid. Unless you jiggle the cable too much, it won't come loose and interrupt or break the connection, which is good. I've had several instances of adapters being too loose to sustain a connection, but this one is tight and not flimsy. Beyond that, not much to say about a cable. It transfers data quickly. It's a reasonable length. It's affordable.

Simple solution for Firewire connectivity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used to convert 800 to 400. Unfortunately, I found the device I was converting would not accept the adapter piece (it fits, just doesn't work through it). Works with other devices though. Returned.

Q: QuestionBought new insignia NS-PCS20 speakers, they aren't recognized by my Mac MiniHelp, the insignia website doesn't offer drivers, how do I make them work? I have opened all my system preferences to change my sound setup, that doesn't help, the speakers don't show up. I didn't even have time to open the box & try them until today. Now, I am NOT HAPPY! Somebody help?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Make sure they're plugged into the headphone jack and not line in. Made that mistake myself. They should show up as a pull down option in the audio (output) preferences.

Q: QuestionDoes this cable work in either direction?I have a macbook pro with an 800 port and a Protools DIGI003 with a 6pin 400 port. I purchased this cable, but my protools board does not link with the macbook. If I connect with a different cable to my PC laptop, the protools board lights up immediately. Is this cable for connected "800" based peripherals to a "400" based computer? or will it work if the computer is "800" based and the peripheral is 6-pin "400" based?
Asked by DC-BNimble.
- A:Answer I had the same issue. This cable does not work with Audio Interfaces. I got a normal 800>400 cable with no adapter and it worked fine, and was less than half the price.
